Happy holidays from Mr. Pants.
I’ve introduced you to Pants before, he’s bouncy, the policeman of the house and has a big heart. Pants is around 10 years old now and although he is still a sweet and gentle guy, we’ve noticed that Pants hasn’t quite been himself. Where he once was a confident king of the castle, he now spends more time hiding in a corner. His anxiety has increased this past year, which we attributed to a new baby and a recent move. Pants was our very first ‘baby’. So, over ten years, he went from being the solo pampered pooch, to the king of our three dog pack and the security guard to our two baby boys. Change has been hard on our sweet guy.
I mentioned before that we were experimenting with our dog’s diets. Cha and Buddy have their weight problems, so we were particualy intrested in the best ingredients to maintain a healthy weight for them. However, while I was doing a little research I was surprised to learn from the experts at Purina Pro Plan, that around age seven the glucose metabolism in a dog’s brain begins to change, which can affect memory, learning, awareness and decision making. I immediately thought of Pants. While our other dogs needed a little help in the weight department, Mr. Pants needed a little help in the behavioral department.
Lucky for Pants, Purina Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+®, discovered a way to promote alertness and mental sharpness in dogs 7+ with their new Bright Mind formulas. The Bright Mind formula is full of botanical oils, high-quality protein and omega-3 fatty acids, that have been shown to increase your dog’s interest in play and the ability to better adapt and cope with change, in as little as 30 days. Pro Plan’s formula also includes glucosamine to help support joint health and mobility. My best friend is a talented dog trainer at PetSmart, so I asked her what she knew about Pro Plan. She said she actually feeds her dogs Pro Plan and loved it, so, I was sold, a new dry food was worth a shot for our sweet Mr. Pants!
In the first week of changing his diet, I noticed he seemed a little more at ease and less anxious; no more hiding in the corner and he was back to frolicking in the yard a little more. After a month on Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind, I’m really impressed with the changes in his behavior. He has been a lot more relaxed and is back to manning his spot on the top of the couch, barking at every dog that graces the TV. Not to mention his big beautiful ears, those are back on high alert as well.
Change has been hard on our old guy. I’m so glad we were able to ease some of his anxiety with a little change in his diet.

Hey Buffalo Plaid Babes!! You and Mr. Pants ROCK!!! He brings back memories of my doggie I had growing up as she looked just like him, 16 glorious years with her, still miss her sometimes. Our Daisy is our baby now since the kids are older, lol. Dogs are the best, you are the best and may this day be awesome!!
Love you look with the buffalo plaid! Happy birthday, Mr. Pants!
You and Mr Pants look so cute in your buffalo plaid! Our dog gets more anxious every day and hides upstairs all of the time now. i’m glad the change in diet worked for your pup! I’m going to have to try it for our’s and see what happens!

He’s so adorable! Our little one is turning 11 this up coming July. They definitely change once they get to the really old years. We changed our pup’s diet too and it actually helped. He’s more lively now.

Aw Mr. Pants looks like quite the star, he is adorable. I didn’t know all of this about dogs, as my Frank is 7 or 8 years old. I will keep an eye on his behavior and think about this dog food (however Frank is so picky and has only stuck to one dog food and won’t eat others).

Aww, Mr. Pants is adorable 🙂 My dog Ellie is getting older too, and she definitely had quite the shake-up when my son was born. We recently moved and that didn’t help either, poor thing. I wouldn’t have thought changing her diet would help, but maybe I should try that. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
OMG, pants is really adorable! Love his bow matching with your best! So cute! I’m glad to hear the food is helping him. Good food is always very important.

I don’t know whats cuter, your doggie or your outfit! Both adorable. Sweet little guy. I have a 16 yr. old chocolate lab, so I know all about taking care of our babies as they get older.

He is adorable! That is great he has gotten to grow up with you as your family grows. I have heard changes like new additions and moving can be very stressful for dogs!
