Have you ever felt completely void of thought? That’s how I have felt lately. Like my brain has hit a roadblock the size of the Hoover Dam on the creative front and I have to defer to Pinterest and Twitter for any sort of ideas whether it be for decorating, artistic projects/crafts or recipes (Twitter has become one of my favorite places to find recipes, probably because the majority of people I follow are dietitians like me so I know their recipes are going to be good). This means coming up with fresh, new ideas has been quite the challenge. Ever see an innovative technology, artistic piece or clever writing and think about how genius the person was who created it? I am hoping all of the outlets that I have been looking to for inspiration will eventually unlock an underlying creativity hiding somewhere deep inside me. A lot of things I have read encourage letting your mind wander and abandoning yourself through play to boost creativity. There was a speaker in one of my classes who recommended keeping your eyes open to the world around you and try to think about the stuff you see, for instance go to an art museum and really think about what you are looking at. Reading also stimulates and opens up your mind. All of these strategies will be put into action as I work to unleash my inner creative spirit.
On another note, today marks week 32 (though these pics were taken 2 weeks ago)…only 8 weeks to the due date!! This sweet little Grecian dress is one of the few non-maternity dresses that I have left that still fits my growing bump and has been perfect for keeping me cool in the summer heat.

So lovely! I need to take time and just go to a museum and read books or magazines as suggested, the online world has made it too easy to skip that part of my life I once loved. Thanks for the inspiration and for linking up to “How I Style It” chambray link up today.

That is so exciting Claire!! I know how exciting! It’s starting to hit me that I am actually having a baby – I think its still one of those things I haven’t been able to wrap my mind around up to this point but I’ve started having dreams about her arrival too so its definitely becoming real! 🙂
Thank you Biana! 🙂
Thank you so much! 🙂 I know right, it definitely doesn’t help that our minds are inundated with so many things – its bound to interfere with the creative process!
Thank you so much sweet Jill! I totally agree with you – they were meant to inspire when we aren’t at our most creative. hehe 🙂
Thank you Monica! 🙂 I love watching it grow!
Thank you so much Carrie! 🙂 xo
What a lovely outfit! You look absolutely stunning!
Thank you darling! You know I would have never thought Twitter would be such a great space for inspiration but it has really become such a great resource. I have had more time to actually try different recipes lately and I have been able to find some wonderful healthy recipe ideas through the RDs I follow on Twitter. 🙂 I love that you can choose who you can get your inspiration from!
Thank you girlie! Me too 🙂
Looking so pretty in that dress!

Thank you! I love these flats from Old Navy. I almost bought a pair just like them in maroon but didn’t and still regret it to this day!
Thank you 🙂
Thank you! I love this dress – I actually bought it while traveling in Greece two years ago. 🙂
Thank you! I agree that getting out for a walk or run really helps to clear the mind so that it can be open for free movement of ideas! 🙂
Thank you! hehe I’m glad others can totally relate. 🙂
Thanks girlie! 🙂
Thank you! I love these flats so much – I wear them all the time during the fall months. 🙂
Thank you 🙂 I can’t either!! Oh yea, and writers block is totally one of my biggest hurdles!
Thank you!! 🙂 I am definitely enjoying the whole process and looking forward to the fun that lies ahead.
You’re welcome! 🙂 I have been trying to read more books with a story (rather than the non-fiction stuff I’m usually reading). I also got a pass a while back to the local art museum so I could start going and taking time to look at the art like that speaker has suggested (I have yet to go for more than 1 exhibit but its on my list!).
Thank you Alice! 🙂
Thanks! 🙂
I love the pops of blue with your scarf and flats! You look adorable! Dresses are the best – especially while pregnant. I feel like I’ve hit a creative wall with cooking dinners. Pinterest is a lifesaver!
