So I recently upgraded my diaper bag…or maybe I downgraded? Downgraded in size and upgraded in versatility? At any rate, I was getting tired of taking my diaper bag out, only to end up carrying my wallet, keys, and phone in my hands while juggling a baby (not to mention shopping bags which usually ended up doubling as a purse) whenever I went anywhere that didn’t require I carry the whole diaper bag. As baby girl turned a year old, I found myself needing less during our outings. Basically just a mini cooler for snacks/milk, wipes, a diaper for emergencies, hand sanitizer, and mini trash bags…thats it (it sounds like a lot more than it really is lol). So I decided that it was probably time to make the switch over to a regular bag. All of my cross bodies were too small to allow me the option of bringing these few essentials along with me and I didn’t like the idea of a large, full cross body flopping around on my side when I walked. I picked up a new shoulder bag thinking it would be my solution but it just ended up getting in the way anytime I tried to wrangle the little one. I noticed a lot of mom’s would carry kiddie or regular backpacks while out and while I appreciated the hands free nature of that option, I wanted something more like a purse. Luckily cute backpacks are still all the rage – yippee!!! Cut to me bringing this fun guy home to meet the family and my prayers being answered. I love it. I can carry everything I need for an outing in this bag, have both of my arms free and feel a little bit cool all at the same time (except when I forget to snap the pocket flaps like I did when I took these pictures…). Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVED my diaper bag. It was absolutely perfect for that first year when I had bottles and diapers galore and was still figuring things out. I still have it on hand for extended trips but this little backpack is all I need for the day to day.
P.S. I have been living in this cable sweater from Old Navy here lately. I actually bought it a size up so that it would be roomy. One of the best decisions I ever made… 😉

Any of my other 90’s babes feel a twinge of nostalgia with the return of the backpack? 🙂

I absolutely love that bag…and your sweater! I carry a backpack bag whenever I travel…perfect for security reasons and it keeps my arms free!
That diaper bag is fabulous! A smaller diaper bag option for quick outings is a must. Love the slightly bigger sweater, too. I’ve been all about relaxed fit items lately!
I also got a black backpack, and I think I am going to love it. This is so cute and so functional. Great sweater!

I have a backpack purse similar to yours that I’ve had for years – and I still love it! So versatile and easy – I even took it to Paris!
Very nice and versatile bag! I had my sons in the 90’s, so I carried a similar backpack for their things and mine. Such a lifesaver!

Yeah, agree with you, backpack is one of the most convenient things for a young mom. When my son was a baby, my sister-in-law also advised me to have a backpack. It is much more comfortable, because you have your hands free, and it is essential, when your child is a toddler.
