It’s Friday afternoon after a long hectic week at the office. You have been working hard trying to make your mark at a company that you just started with only a few months ago. That morning you had decided to wear something that makes you feel powerful, pretty and bright which helps give you that extra boost of energy to get through the day. You have radiated strength and confidence from the moment you walked out your front door – so much so that it has been hard for anyone not to notice. You sit at your desk, putting the finishing touches on a big project when your boss calls you into her office. You stomach sinks – “What does she want to speak with me about?”. You know in your heart that you have been doing your very best work but you can’t help but wonder if the purpose of this meeting was good or bad. You sit down in front of her, straightening out your tweed skirt. She tells you that you are a force to be reckoned with and that she would like to promote you to a higher level position. It takes everything in you to not get up and start jumping around like a 5 year old after their parents just told them they are going to Disney World. You manage to keep it together, give your boss a confident smile and tell her that you look forward to getting started with this opportunity. After leaving her office you head straight to your phone to text your best girlfriends to arrange a meet up for celebratory cocktails. You are, after all, dressed and ready for anything.
