Girlfriends gotta eat, and sometimes, that eating occurs on-the-go. I wish I was always prepared, with fresh fruit, veggies or nuts on hand; but remember me, I’m habitually unprepared. I crave those solutions that make life easy for me. Quest Nutrition is a company that makes life easy for me.
Remember my protein pancakes. Still tasty, but they require some cooking. Quest Beyond Cereal Bars are new, can be found at 7-11 and I don’t have to lift a finger. I mean, unless you count grabbing them off the shelf.
Quest Beyond Cereal Protein Bars were created to mirror the taste of the traditional cereal bars we all know and love, but instead of being made with grains, they are made with protein. They are also sweetened with Allulose instead of sugar. Alluslose tastes and bakes like sugar, but only has 0.4 calories per gram, vs the 4 calories per gram of sugar. Allulose occurs naturally in small amounts, in things like maple syrup and raisins and has only recently become available for use by food companies. Pretty interesting. You can find more about Allulose here.
How Do They Taste?
Yes, but how do they taste?! Quest Beyond Cereal Bars come in Chocolate, Waffle and Cinnamon flavor, and I tried each one. They have a nice crunch to them like a traditional cereal bar, but I wouldn’t say they taste quite like a cereal bar. If you’re familiar with protein powder, it has a distinct taste and I felt like these bars also had that. A little less sweet, but still good! Just like my protein pancakes, they are a tasty alternative to a traditional favorite, with more protein and less sugar. I definitely recommend giving them a try!
