I get countless requests to see a capsule wardrobe. I’ll admit, I don’t feel like that’s totally my strong suit, so I’ve yet to actually produce a post like that. However, I’ve always been big on only buying things that can be worn often and multiple ways. So I came up with something that isn’t quite a capsule wardrobe, but plays on the concept of taking a handful of my most worn items and creating lots of different outfits with them.
10 Items 20 Outfits
I ultimately used ten different clothing items and four pairs of shoes for these outfits. In choosing the items, I picked mostly things I’ve posted before on the blog, and wear most often. Since this one has several outfits I’m going to start by telling you my sizing and fit tips for each item and then just sharing the outfits with the links that go with it.
10 Items
First I chose three base items: one pair of blue jeans, one pair of black jeans, and a black dress. The blue and black jeans I chose are my most worn items. I wear both pairs of jeans in 0 x-short and the dress is petite xs.
Then I chose three toppers to layer with: a moto jacket, and cozy long cardigan, and a puffer vest. The moto jacket you’ve seen many times on the blog this year. It’s one of my favorite things to layer with. I wear it in xxs and it’s a really great petite fit.
Next is the long caramel cardigan. I recently bought this from Amazon. It has somewhat of a relaxed dolman sleeve that I really like. I’m wearing it in xs.
Finally, the vest I first styled in my Amazon athleisure post. I’ll admit I didn’t restyle it much in the video, really I only wore it once. I intended to wear it with more outfits but the time got away from me when putting the video together.
Then I chose four tops that could be layered: a printed top, a turtleneck sweater, a basic white tee, and a flannel button down.
The printed top you saw first in my Thanksgiving outfit post, I wear it in petite xs.
I love the fit of the turtleneck, I wear it in petite xs. It was styled in my sneakers post.
The white t-shirt is a recent Amazon buy. It comes in petite xs and is longer so you can wear it with leggings if you wanted to, but you can also tuck it in like I did in these outfits.
Last, this flannel top that has been a recent favorite of mine. It’s well made and has a cozy oversized fit that is great for layering. I wear it in xxs. You’ve also seen it styled in the sneakers post.
