I loved all of the feedback from y’all after my first 10 Items 20 Outfits post. It was great to hear how much you loved it, and I’ll be sure to put more and more posts together like that. Starting with today’s post! This time around I’m taking 10 items and putting together 20+ outfits you can wear to work.
Also new with this post – I created my first ever YouTube video! Starting a channel was a goal I had in mind for 2021 and I’m hoping it’s the start of something great. The idea with my YouTube videos is to slow down and give a little more detail for you to follow along with my style sessions. I’m also thinking I’ll add in try-on and shopping videos as well. This is just the first one so there was a little learning curve involved (took me what felt like forever to finish), and it’s not exactly how I foresee future videos going, but I’m looking forward to working more with longer videos! 10 items 20 Outfits for Work
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” around 107 lbs. My bust, waist and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, 36″.
10 Items
When I chose my 10 items I did my best to pick items that all basically went together. So, with one pair of pants you could wear all of the tops, you could also change out different blazers with the tops to make even more outfits. It makes for several similar, but still different outfits.
Black Turtleneck in XS
Turtlenecks are always great to layer with. In this post I wore the turtleneck on its own, layered under blazers, and also layered under a button down chambray. This one in particular runs small and has a close fit.
Printed Top in Petite XXS
I included a printed top in the post to show how versatile prints can be as well. Of course I couldn’t pair this printed top with the leopard skirt, but it would go with many solid bottoms. I love neutrals, but I also love prints and don’t think you need to shy away from them when building a closet that you can mix and match with. The one I’m wearing is dark purple, so it can compliment many different color bottoms. I’m wearing it in petite xxs, but I recommend sizing up as the sleeves are tight in the wrist area.
White Blazer in Petite XXS
J.Crew does blazers so well in petite. The one I’m wearing has a longer modern fit. I chose white for this post because it works well now, and also into the spring. However, a classic black blazer would make a great trade for all of the outfits with the white blazer.
Tan Blazer in 00
The schoolboy blazer from J.Crew Factory is an affordable option that has a modern fit on petites. I say modern, because it is slightly oversized. It does come in petite, but I prefer the regular fit.
Black Sweater Blazer in XXS
I grabbed one of my favorite sweaters for this post – the sweater blazer. This doesn’t come in petite, so I wear it in xxs. I think it makes for a nice blend between relaxed and polished.
Chambray Top in Petite XS
A chambray top is a classic that I think can do so much in your wardrobe. I’ve had mine for years and originally purchased it from J.Crew Factory. I’ll link some similar updated options for you to get the same look. If chambray is too relaxed for you, I think a white button down would work well with these outfits also.
Cropped Flare Pants in Petite 00
When I originally thought of this post I was going to use the same leggings/pants that I styled in my LOFT post. Until I tried the cousin of those pants in a cropped flare. They have the same nice fit and stretch of the skinny version I wore in that post, but with a flare bottom. If it’s super cold where you are, you can also wear boots with these pants.
Green Pencil Skirt in Petite 00
Ann Taylor also has a great petite selection. Unfortunately, my green skirt sold out before I could get this post out, bummer! However, I’m going to link a similar skirt that comes in black and navy, which would also work well with these outfits. Bonus, this skirt comes in curvy or standard fit and I could really use curvy fit when it comes to pencil skirts.
Leopard Midi Skirt in Petite 00
This midi skirt is better quality than some that I’ve tried from J.Crew, and much less expensive. I think the length is great for petites and I love the pink spin on leopard! Again, I wanted to show that even a printed bottom can be versatile and mixed and matched in your wardrobe. In general J.Crew Factory tends to run big and I often wear the smallest size available.
White Puff Sleeve Sweater in XXS
Abercrombie is another great resource for petites. I can buy their regular xxs in tops and it’s perfect! I like the cropped fit of this sweater for work, it pairs great with pants and skirts without having to be tucked in, but it’s also short enough to tuck in without a lot of extra bulk.
