Although it’s still very much winter, I feel like we’re in that awkward in-between time of year. There are few moths left of winter temperatures but soon spring will arrive. So I built this capsule-style post with what I feel like will be versatile outfits for now and later. Some items I’ve already shown on the blog many times (so you may already have them) and the others I’m hoping you’ll get lots of wear out of through the seasons. I chose two black pants options because I love wearing a slim pair with flat comfortable shoes (you can also swap in black jeans for these pants), and also a bootcut option that will work well with boots for cold weather. I mostly wanted to show you the proportions and fit of these two different styles, for variety you could add a different color bottom, white and olive would both work well with the tops. Since my fall capsule focused on sweaters, I chose some short sleeve options for this one. My hope there is that it will be helpful for those who live in warmer climates but also works with layers for colder areas. Stay tuned for a capsule 10X10 capsule-style post later this week!

Tops
Striped Turtleneck Regular XXS – This top is from Anthropologie. It was sold out in my size in petite so I went for regular sizing which is plenty small (bordering on needing to size up). It does have ruffles on the sleeves but they’re slim enough to still layer with this top if you want to.
Houndstooth Top Petite XXS – This top is true to size and has beautiful draping at the neckline. It layers well and the neutral print will work well into the spring.
Taupe Sweater XS – I would consider this sweater to run true to size. It has puff sleeves that you’ll need to ensure are pulled down as far as they can be when tucking them under layers to avoid bulk. It’s a warm option I’ve loved wearing since this late summer.
Wrap Sweater XS – I love the unique style of this sweater. It doesn’t layer well but is definitely still a versatile option you can wear with lots of different bottoms. It fits me well in XS and the wrap is a great fit (not too low at the chest).
Black Turtleneck XS – This is one of my favorite layers for winter. I often size up in J.Crew Factory sweaters (they start at XXS). Another great option for the turtleneck is a crewneck black sweater that you can still wear as the weather becomes milder. My exact sweater is low in stock, I would recommend this one from Quince as an alternative option.
Blazers + Dress
Black Blazer Petite 2 – I chose a soft jersey blazer with a slightly oversized fit. I love the fabric of this blazer because it’s easy to belt and the sleeves will stay pushed back if you want to wear them that way. This less expensive option from Kohls is also soft and stretchy. It has a similar fit (you can see it on me in this past 10 Items 20 Outfits post)
Taupe Blazer Petite XXS – I love the quality and fit of this Abercrombie blazer. It fits me well in Petite XXS and has a straight modern fit that’s easy to dress up and down.
Cardigan Dress XXS – I chose this dress because it also doubles as a long cardigan adding to its versatility! The fabric is soft and stretchy, I think a size up would work better for me, as closed the buttons on the dress stretch a little around my hips.
Pants + Skirt
Slim Black Pants Petite 00 – This pair of pants from J.Crew Factory is a great versatile option. They fit me well in my true size. You could swap them for black jeans if your workplace is more casual.
Bootcut Black Pants Petite 00 – These pants are a great option for wearing with boots in cold weather. The longer length requires a heel for me, but I can get by with a low comfortable heel, like on these boots.
Pleated Skirt Small – This Amazon skirt is a pretty neutral color and the fabric isn’t fussy. I considered a satin skirt ( a trendier option) but they can be clingy and you need shapewear with them. This skirt doesn’t cling, doesn’t need shapewear and you can get away with tucking sweaters into if you want to. For those who asked, it’s simple to remove wrinkles from the skirt with a steamer and the pleats stay intact. If you’re curious about what shoes you can wear with a midi skirt like this, check out this post.
* Trench Coat Petite 00 – I didn’t include this coat in my item coat, but I did include it in one outifts. It’s a great lightweight layer to add to any of these outfits.
Shoes and Accessories
I wore a few different pairs of shoes just to show options, but at the end of the day you can style all of these outfits with a pair of heels of flats. All of the shoes and accessories worn are linked below:
