I will admit, in my younger years I thought of skincare as washing my face with whatever would ‘dry it out’ the most. Thinking, dry skin meant acne free skin, which really is the total opposite. A few years ago, I found myself getting older and prematurely again! AHHH, I guess my years of sun worshipping and drying my skin out were catching up to me. I sought the help of Cathy of Believable Skin Care (if you’re local to Richmond I highly recommend her) and she saved my face! I learned from her to fight acne and blemishes, you should keep your skin well hydrated! I owe all the credit of my current routine to her and well, I actually look younger and have clearer skin now, than when I actually was much younger!
So here are my go to products:
1. Cleanse with Cetaphil – this cleanser is so gentle and keeps my skin from drying out, plus it is super cheap! I wash my face morning and night with this.
2. Exfoliate with Dr. Wexler – Cathy introduced me to this product which is by far one of the best exfoliators out there. This formula is gentle while still being effective and keeps my skin bright! You can find this online and at your local Bath and Body Works. It is a little pricey, but this bottle will last you a while, a little goes a long way.
3. Antioxidants from Paula’s Choice – Again, this is a little goes a long way kind of product. I apply this to my entire face each morning, it wears perfect under makeup. I credit this product to smoothing the wrinkles and loose skin around my eyes tremendously!
4. Night Eye Cream with Mario Badescu – I used to have these little tiny white bumps underneath my eyes. From afar, they gave me tired dark circles under my eyes. I learned from Cathy that this was fixed with some simple exfoliation and antioxidants. However, since the skin around your eyes is super sensitive, you don’t want to go scrubbing away in that area. This cream has glycolic acid in it which acts a gentle exfoliator around your eyes, removing dead skin and allowing any antioxidants products you’re using to actually penetrate your skin. This product has tremendously helped brighten the skin around my eyes and cut down on the tiny bumps. I put this on at night after cleansing.
5. Moisturize with Cetaphil – I actually use this gentle moisturizer on my entire body, twice a day. I have super sensitive skin, so sensitive that when I run, I break out in hives and I am a highly active person! This moisturizer cuts down on my reactions and keeps my skin smooth!
6. Sunscreen – Finally, I always try to wear a little bit of sunscreen to protect my skin on a daily basis. As much as a I love a good soak in the sun, to preserve my youth, I try to protect my skin as best as I can. Soleil Toujours has a great line of organic and hypoallergenic mist sunscreens that are great for my sensitive skin. Lucky you, they are running a giveaway through June 21, 2014 so you can give them a try! Enter through the link below for a chance to win a full size mist sunscreen!
