An Honest Review of the Maskcara HAC Pack & Oh, Hey Girl! Link-Up

The side hustle is strong these days. If you’re on Facebook at all, I’m sure you know just what I mean by that. I’m all for supporting small business and helping a friend out, but sometimes you’re not sure if the product you’re getting is going to be as great as everyone says it is, or if you’re buying it just to help a sister out. I recently attended (virtually on Facebook) a Maskcara party that my mom hosted, so I thought I would share with you what I thought. A totally unbiased, no monetary gain review.

Honest review of Maskcara HAC pack

Have you heard of Maskcara? I remember pinning her pins and watching her makeup tutorials on Youtube, girlfriend knows what she’s doing. When my mom invited me to a Maskcara party, I was like, what?! I recognized the name right off, but I didn’t realize she had launched a beauty line. I knew she was good at her craft so I figured her makeup was probably pretty good. Plus, anytime I see a youtuber or blogger turn into a full blown success, I get excited!

My initial thought when I hopped into this party was this makeup is expensive. Do I really need more makeup? I wanted to help my mom out, so of course the answer was, yes. I opted to try the HAC pack, 30 second HAC brush, setting powder with brush and an eyeshadow palette.

Maskcara HAC Pack

Review of Maskcara Beauty HAC Pack - the foundation you're going to want to try.

Maskcara 30 second HAC pack in Medium

When I first put the makeup on, I was like oh gracious this is sticky. It is a cream based product, which is something I haven’t used before. Call me novice, but I’ve always just been a BB cream of basic liquid foundation kind of girl. The cream threw my off, but the HAC brush really made for good application. They sell a setting spray, but I just used my MAC Fix+ spray and the Maskcara setting powder. Since I didn’t get the spray, I can’t attest to whether or not it makes for a less sticky feeling. First thing I noticed was the coverage was great. I felt airbrushed. However, it still felt sticky and a little heavy on my face. I was about to text my mom, like gee thanks mom, but as the day went on, I started to really love the makeup. The product sets in after a little bit and it no longer feels sticky, but the coverage is still awesome! I really like how the makeup looks dewy and not powdery. You know how powdery makeup can amplify like every tiny hair on your face? Blah! This makeup doesn’t do that at all.

Maskcara Beauty Review

When I stopped being skeptical about the product, the price really was justified. The HAC pack is $48, which for a good foundation, that’s what you’ll pay. Plus, this product is more than just foundation. The pack comes with a highlight, contour, blush and illuminator.  The product is not meant to be applied like traditional foundation. You apply each color to different areas of your face and blend, rather than layering the products. It comes with a guide that tells you where to put the colors and many of the consultants have tutorials online. If one of the colors runs out because you use it more, a replacement is only $12. So, it is worth its price. The brush is another $35. I initially didn’t purchase the HAC brush because I have a good collection of brushes and a beauty blender, so I thought I could make one of those work. As a gift for making an order, my mom ended up giving me the HAC brush and it really does make a difference. The powder brush I purchased came bundled with the setting powder, which is probably why I went ahead and purchased it, and I’m glad I did. The brushes are great!

Maskcara Eye Palette

Maskcara Eye Pallete

The littlest just had to be a part of this makeup experience.

The eyeshadow palette got me with its pretty purples. Purple is about the only color that makes my brown eyes do anything. So I wanted to add a few new shades to my collection. The consultant kept saying how pigmented the shadows were, so I wanted to see for myself. The verdict – they truly are highly pigmented. Even more so than my MAC eye shadows. Dare I say it, I like these shadows more! I built my own palette and chose: London, Crush, Kin and Amethyst.

Maskcara Setting Powder

Overall, I found myself happy I shopped that little Facebook party, I found a foundation that I love and truly rivals many of the prestige brands I’ve tried over the years.

Have you tried Maskcara products, what do you think about them?

Oh I hadn’t heard of the blogger.youtuber before, but I’m not really up to speed on makeup stuff, haha! I think your first impression would be how I’d feel all day – I don’t like sticky makeup or things that I can ‘feel’ on my face, if that makes sense! It’s good you love it though šŸ™‚

I have been using Maskcara for a month and LOVE it! I was skeptical at first as I am 56, dry skin and have never used a cream based foundation or blush. This was SCARY! I bought the Holiday Collection which gave me everything I need including the HAC Brush and eye shadow brush. I stalked the mailman and finally it arrived! I got right to work! I had watched almost every You Tube tutorial out there so I knew this would be easy. It was beyond my expectations and took me about 10 mins from start to finish. If you haven’t tried this brand you should!
