I’m not much of a trendy girl, but when a trend hits upon something I love, I’m all in. This year, that trend is rainbow. I’ve always gravitated toward color, but I can’t say I’ve ever put all of the colors I love into one outfit. Until now, of course.
Spring Style Trend: Rainbow
J. Crew Factory Rainbow Sidewalk Skirt
I have a collection of J. Crew Factory Sidewalk skirts in my closet, so when I saw this rainbow version, you better believe it was a quick add to cart. The sidewalk skirt isn’t everyone’s favorite, but for me, it’s almost always a win. It does run on the short size, I’m wearing a regular 00 and the skirt hits about mid thigh on me. Keep in mind, I’m 4’10”.
Since my skirt has every color of the rainbow going on, I kept it simple with a classic white button down and my Tory Burch Miller sandals. I’ve seen a lot of talk about these sandals lately and whether or not they’re worth the purchase. For me, they totally were. If you’re thinking of trying a pair, they do run small, I personally went up an entire size in them, and could have gone up another half size.
I used to be a one bag, wear it all the time, kind of girl. That one bag, was almost always a colorful one too. This little crossbody bag I wore about two or three years ago day in and day out. After packing it away that year, I haven’t worn it since. I’ve been on a quest to reorganize my closet, so I can actually find things, and it’s really been helping me get more use out of the things I already own. When I put on this skirt and looked for a bag to match, this purple beauty stood out. It doesn’t hurt that it also hits on the lilac trend. Just to show how long it has been since I’ve carried this bag, when I opened it up, it still had the nausea medicine I used to take during my pregnancy with my littlest. Which also made it apparent to me how far I’ve come in keeping my bag collection clean and organized, I don’t hoard old things in purses anymore.
I wore this outfit to church yesterday and the compliments were plentiful – it surely made this girl feel special! We’ve been lucky to have beautiful weather this past weekend and the boys and I worked on our raised bed garden. We didn’t make it as far as we would have liked to, but I’ll be sure to share more about our garden when we get it all planted! Now, here’s to a hopefully, bright, beautiful, and colorful week!
Are you wearing the rainbow trend?
