If something is hyped, there’s a good chance I’m going to get hype about it. Every black friday, I get hype. Lilly Pulitzer after party sale, I get hype. Then the Nordstrom sale, you best believe I get hype about that too. I woke up at 4am, sale launch day and shopped my heart out, and most of what I ordered has arrived, with the exception of just a few things. Every blogger and their brother has shared what they love about the sale, and what you just have to have. Some of the things I’m going to share are must haves for some people. While on screen I loved a lot from the sale – in reality, most of what I ordered ended up being a big fail for me. You’ll see what I mean.
The Good and Bad of my Nordstrom Sale Picks
Before I share the try-on, I’ll just note if you don’t already know, I’m 4’10” and should probably just stick to shopping in the children’s department, that is if children’s clothes were made to accommodate these birthing hips of mine. In a nutshell, I’m a hard body type to fit and most of my items weren’t bad, I just had fit issues.
BP Curve Hem Cardigan & Paige Huxton High Waist Skinny Jeans
I’m going to start with the one thing I kept from my entire order, the BP Curve Hem Cardigan. I labeled this cocoon sweater on my first post, and I’m pretty certain that’s not what it’s called and that’s what shopping at 4am does to you. It is a little oversized on me, but it’s so soft and cozy and I just don’t care. I ordered the oatmeal color and love that it’s ribbed and less likely to pill!
I’m normally a cheap denim kind of girl. I love me some LOFT jeans, and they fit me well. However, this year I went into the sale with the intention of buying a pair of premium denim. So, I ordered four different styles, and I’ll just get to the end of it and tell you none of them worked for me, but that’s why you try things! This pair is the Paige Huxton High Waist Skinny Jeans and you can tell in the picture they’re obviously too long, but what made me decide they were a no was the amount of stretch and the pockets. I prefer jeans that are less stretchy and give more structure to suck in these thighs of mine. Plus, I think at this point I’m done trying on high waist jeans because every single one of them makes my butt look wide and it’s wide enough on it’s own.
Caslon Rounded V-Neck Tee & 7 For All Mankind Blair Skinny Jeans
These 7 For All Mankind Released Hem Jeans were too long, of course, and the hem makes it so you can’t hem them. Sometimes I get really lucky with ankle length which is why I went for it, but in this case it was just a no. Plus I didn’t like the way they made my butt look, just saying. They were returned.
These Caslon V-Neck Tees were something I ordered from last year’s sale and loved. They are on the thin side, but it wasn’t a huge issue with the colors I already have. This color is pretty, but great day it is see through. Showing my bra off is just not my style. Plus, this shirt (and the other color I ordered) had a very strong chemical smell. I know that happens from time to time and sometimes that can wash out of things, but I’ve definitely had things that the smell never came out of. So, it was return.
1901 Button Back Sweater & Citizen of Humanity Rocket High Waist Skinny Jeans
The 1901 sweater was very soft and a cute basic. The buttons in the back are cute, it’s pretty much the same concept of turning a cardigan backwards. You could probably turn this around and wear it as a cardigan because the buttons are functional. After coming to that realization it was a return for me, since I own a gray cardigan.
The Citizen of Humanity jeans just weren’t a good fit for me. They did have the structure and weight to the denim that I like. However, they were long, which is a given with my height, but they were too tight on my hips, hence the gaping in the zipper. So not worth hemming.
Caslon Peplum Top
I had no idea this top was actually a sweater. I don’t like it as a sweater and I don’t like it at all, it’s a hard no. It’s huge on me for one, but the way the hem rolls is just blah to me. I ordered the petite xxs too.
Topshop Colorblock Knit
I ordered this sweater knowing it was going to be a little bit out of my comfort zone, but I just had to know what it would look like on. For me, it’s not a good fit. On someone taller, and I’ve seen proof of it on other bloggers, it’s a really cute sweater. It was returned.
You win some and you lose some, but that’s ok! I’m trying to be much better about not keeping things that I don’t love and these things just weren’t loves. I ordered a few other things that haven’t arrived just yet. I’m hoping they are going to be wins! However, I ordered two pair of shoes that I already have buyers remorse over, so they’ll probably be a return. I did snag a Tory Burch crossbody and this cute top, I’ll let you know what they’re like when they come in!
I would love to know what has been working out for you from the sale, let me know in the comments!
