I love a good peplum top. So much so, that if it’s peplum, there’s a good chance I’m going to buy it.
But, there are two camps when it comes to the peplum, the people like me who love this cute style, and the others that think it’s strange. My best friend, for example, refers to peplum tops as pregnant shirts. Why peplum tops make her think of maternity wear, is a mystery to me – but she won’t wear them.
Others dislike peplum tops because they hit them at an awkward place on their waist. I could see that and I won’t argue with you there. Since I lack a torso greater than four inches that’s never been an issue for me.
A Case for the Peplum Top
But, the peplum top has so many pro’s! If you’re in the anti-peplum camp currently, maybe I can sway you.
The Ultimate Food Baby Hider
Maybe it’s a food baby, maybe it’s a little bloat going on, but some days you might feel like you have something to hide. Instead of sucking your gut in all day, you can put on a peplum top and breath easy. It’s like the hoodie’s fancy cousin.
The Peplum Comes to Party
The peplum top is basically wearing a skirt, I mean she’s ready to party. But no, in all seriousness it’s a style that can dress up just about anything.
No One Will Think You’re Pregnant
Despite what my best friend thinks (love ya’ mean it) the peplum top doesn’t make you look pregnant. In my opinion at least. I could see, maybe, the styles that drape from right under the chest, but a peplum like the one I’m wearing in this post would look totally awkward on a pregnant belly, just saying.
Shop The Post
I know the peplum isn’t the best for everyone, but for me it’s going to be a favorite the lasts. Long live the peplum! Who’s with me?!
