The hunt for a great pair of pants for work is a difficult one. I have one pair of dress pants from LOFT that I actually like the fit of, but other than that, I’ve yet to find a pair that fits length wise, and hip wise.
In the summer I tend to wear dresses and skirts to work the most, but as the weather cools, I reach for my black jeans.

My absolute favorite black jeans come from Madewell. Their black skinny jeans and demi boot jeans don’t fade quickly and I appreciate that the pockets don’t have any designs on them. However, for this post I styled a pair of budget friendly black jeggings from American Eagle. They’re a great petite option as well!
With a Blazer + T-Shirt
I love how well a t-shirt can go under a blazer. This outfit is essentially a comfortable jeans and t-shirt outfit, but the blazer makes it work appropriate. I like the blend of white with the gray top underneath, but you can get the same look with any t-shirt and blazer combo.

With a Sweater Blazer
I’ve been singing the praises of the J.Crew sweater blazer for years now and I’ll keep singing them. This black one is new to me this year, and I know I’ll be wearing it just as much as my tan one as the weather cools. It is dry clean only, but don’t worry, it cleans up beautifully with a little Dryel at home. I wear it in regular xxs.

My sweater vest came in a styling box for me last year and I can’t find its exact online. Honestly, I can’t even find many similar ones, but I’ll link what I was able to find. I think it’s a great layering piece more brands should bring back this year!

I showed this outfit without the sweater and with the sweater in the IGtv style session, mainly to show that this top can easily be worn under a jacket. The puff sleeves made me worry, but they layer just fine. If you’re not a big fan of yellow, this top also comes in black and white.

I’ve been really drawn to smocked tops while browsing the upcoming fall styles. For me, it’s something that I don’t have a lot of in my closet and I really like the structured fit. I have a style session with multiple ways to wear this top coming up next, so keep an eye out for that!

With Glen Plaid
For an inexpensive Old Navy blazer, this blazer has a great fit. It is a softer knit so it’s not a structured as some of my other blazers, but it makes for a comfortable layer! I wore it here with a basic white t-shirt, but you can dress it up more with a white blouse.
