4 Ways to Wear a Shacket

I know some of y’all read this title and said, “what in the world is a shacket?” I did the same thing when I first heard the term. The shacket, put simply, is a shirt jacket, that’s been quite trendy this fall.

Shackets are a heavier version of a button down top. They can be worn as a “jacket” but can also be layered if you have one that isn’t too heavy, or too oversized. Mine is a flannel version, but I’ve seen in them in sherpa and corduroy as well. They tend to have an oversized fit so I wanted to find one that I felt wouldn’t be too overwhelming on me. I landed on this J.Crew version when they were having a good sale. I have a feeling it’s going to be on sale over the holidays too!

4 Ways to Wear a Shacket

Cozy with Leggings

Shackets are perfect with leggings because of their length! I hunted high and low for a pair of sherpa boots that are genuinely warm, and also petite friendly. When wearing booties, the height of the shaft (how high the boot comes up on your ankle) matters. If it’s too high, it covers your ankles and goes straight to calves, giving a cankles look. This pair doesn’t come up too high, and they’re fully lined in dreamy sherpa. I LOVE them! They also come with yellow laces and you can swap them in and out. I think these are going to be on a great sale over the holiday shopping season as well.

With Mom Jeans

I know mom jeans aren’t everyone’s style, but I’m often asked about them. So, I’ve been trying to include them in style sessions to give you ideas of how you can wear them! I paired them with a bodysuit here which is one of my favorite looks with mom jeans. Booties look great with mom jeans, but I like to keep them slim to the ankle and pointed so they don’t look too heavy with the opening of the jeans.

With Sneakers

Although you don’t see them as often on the blog, I wear my sneakers quite often. I would totally wear this casual and comfortable outfit to run errands or spend time with my family on a lazy weekend! I’m planning to do a style session soon with sneakers for fall and winter.

Layered

If your shacket isn’t too oversized or too thick, it layers just as beautifully as a flannel top. I actually have on three layers here with a tee underneath, making this outfit really warm!

I’ve been working on rounding up my picks from my favorite places that I know are going to be running sales on Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend. This top is definitely included! I typically spend Black Friday shopping all day and night with my girlfriends, it’s a tradition we’ve had for many years. This will be the first year that we aren’t going to do that. So you better believe I’ll be snuggled up in my PJs catching the sales online instead.

Be sure to catch this style session on IGtv or Pinterest and let me know what you want to see next!
