I’ve tried a few styling services over the years, but none quite like Short Story. Created by a group of petite women in San Francisco, tired of being left behind by the fashion industry, Short Story caters to women under 5’4″.
Short Story: A Petite Styling Box
Much like my blog is dedicated to helping petite women find clothes that actually fit – Short Story picks them out for you and mails them to your doorstep.
How Does Short Story Work?
If you’ve used a styling service before then the process with Short Story will feel familiar. You start by creating a style profile with your tastes, budget and measurements. The survey even includes a place to put your inseam which I think is really important when it comes to shopping for petite pants and jeans. Then your stylist curates a box of five pieces and mails them to you to try on at home. Once you receive your box, you have five days to decide what you want to keep and what you want to return, the shipping and returns are free.
How much Does it Cost?
The styling fee for each Short Story box is $25, which is applied as a credit to anything you would like to keep from the box. You can choose how often you want to receive a box within your style profile.
My First Short Story Box
Now the fun part, what came in my first Short Story Box. For a first try with a stylist I was really impressed with what came in my first shipment. Not everything was fully my style, but everything fit – and fit really well!
Petite Principle Cardigan
I was introduced to a new brand with my Short Story Box – Petite Principle. I will direct link to each item that can be found there – Every item was a great fit! The first thing that I really loved is this button cardigan. I’ve been seeing sweaters like this everywhere and have been struggling to find one that wasn’t too oversized for me. So, I was excited to try this one and I just love the fit! It was a definite keep for me.

Petite Principle Jumpsuit
Going to admit – this one just isn’t me. However, the fit is amazing! This jumpsuit is also very comfortable. The part that doesn’t feel like me is the pattern, if it was a solid black I would love it!

Vero Moda Chiffon Blouse
You may recognize this top from my New Year’s Eve post! This was another piece I loved and if it wasn’t for the fact that I spent NYE on a patio by a fire, I would have worn it then. I initially didn’t realize you can find this top on the Petite Principle website, so for those of you who were asking me where to find it and I could only offer one site it was sold out on – you can find it here!

Overlap Hem Dress
This dress is so comfortable and makes a great layering basic! The fit is a nice blend of bodycon without being too tight. It also looks great with my trusty moto jacket! I would add tights to this outfit for cold weather.

Whale Necklace
The last thing in my box was a cute minimalist whale necklace. I layered it with one of my favorite necklaces.
I love to shop – the thrill of the hunt is it for me, but, I appreciate that styling services can introduce you to new brands! The fit of every item I received was so spot on, even with things like jumpsuits that can be a difficult fit for petites. I highly recommend trying Short Story, I think you’ll find something to love.
