Lately, I’ve been a little cluttered. Clutter in my mind, clutter in my house, clutter in my car. I’m embarassed to admit it, I let things get away from me.
After the 100th time stuffing my cups in the cupboard and slamming the door quickly before any could fall out, I decided enough was enough.
Clutter is weighing me down. It stresses me out, makes me feel disorganized and unproductive.
The point of this post is to make you feel proud of yourself if you never let your cabinets get like mine, or to inspire you to declutter if you’re anything like me! It really was a painfully refreshing experience.
Now that its all said and done, I feel refreshed and ready for a new week…one that doesn’t involve stuffing my dishes away!
I mentioned, there is a lot of clutter in my life right now. It shouldn’t be an excuse, but my son is two. I spend a lot of time playing, learning and loving…and I’m not ashamed. But, I also let a lot of things go. I should be setting aside time to also set a good example and keep myself together! I used to be very put together, very organized, everything in its place, never a spot of dirt on the floor. You have to let go of a little bit of that when you become a parent, since toddlers are mini tornados, but balance is a beautiful thing!
I tackled my kitchen first, which is the worst of all. I found that when I actually looked at what I’ve been stashing in my kitchen cabinets for years, I really didn’t need it and never used it! So a yard sale is in my future for sure!
First, I took a trip to target and found some fun baskets!
I almost splurged on the mini chalkboards to label my baskets and opted for the much cheaper pack of labels instead. I mean really, who needs to spend $20.00 on tiny chalkboards?
…then got started.
…dont judge me, I told you it was bad!
I organized all of my baking odds and ends into a cute basket!
and tada!!
Then I tackled the worst cabinets in my house…which I didn’t even take before pictures, because, well it was bad. The tupperware cabinet and the cup/out of control sippy cup cabinet. This is where the baskets came in handy.
I even re organized my spice drawer..and found some spices I didn’t know I had! ha.
Now, the real test will be…can I keep it this way? With my spastic, stuff things away as fast as I can and go on with my day type of personality. I sure hope so! Organization is refreshing! Give it a try…unless you’re way better than me and already super organized 😉
