8 Items 10 Outfits

As promised in my recent 10 Items 20 Outfits post for work, here is a casual post done in the same style. I intended to make this post 10 Items 20 Outfits as well, but with most winter items being low in stock at the moment I found myself struggling to pull it together. We’re in that weird season where the stores are starting to put out spring clothes and have sold out of all of the winter things, but it’s snowing outside. I’m all for creating outfits with what you have on hand, but when I post something that is mostly sold out it leads to a lot of frustrated readers. So I worked with what I could pull together and landed on 8 Items and 10 neutral outfits.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My typical inseam is 24-25″. The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.

Blazer Coat: Petite XXS – This blazer coat is thick and warm and has a great petite fit. Since it is thick, I find it balances better if you can add something like a scarf or sweater over the shoulders. I think it has great sleeve length in my true size but in some of the outfits I cuffed the sleeves under to show a little wrist (which gives a lengthening illusion).

Long Sweater: XXS – I have used the Juliette sweater from J.Crew in so many of my capsule-style posts. It’s the classic layer that works year after year if you ask me. You see a lot of people finishing outfits with coats, which I’m all for – but we take our coats off indoors, so there goes your outfit. I still love heavier finishing pieces like this sweater that keeps the look finished indoors and out. You can find similar options on Amazon (the fit is longer and larger overall).

Striped Lady Sweater: XS – This sweater doesn’t come in petite, but it has a surprisingly perfect fit. J.Crew tends to make their tops and sweaters with shorter sleeves (good for petites like me, not so good for average-size people). This sweater has great sleeve length and hits me at the hip. It runs small, so I went with XS instead of XXS.

Plaid Coat: Petite XXS – I opted for this plaid coat mainly because it was the only one of my coats that still has a few sizes left in stock. I love a classic black or camel coat, but a plaid coat adds interest to an outfit! I find it to fit true to size overall, but it is a little long in the sleeves. I like it best with the sleeves tucked under a bit (you can always alter the sleeves as well).

White Top: XS – I’m often asked about my favorite t-shirts and although they don’t come in petite, Abercrombie has the best t-shirts around if you ask me. They’re often thick and have a nice slim fit that tucks into pants and jeans easily. The top in this post is thick ottoman – almost like a sweater.

Black Top: XS – I also love the perfect t-shirts from J.Crew. They have great sleeve length and are the perfect weight (a classic thick t-shirt). These t-shirts start at XXS, but I go for XS because they run slim and small.

Ultra High Rise 90s Jeans: 24 Extra Short – (in medium wash) You can replace the jeans in this post with any style you like. I went with a full-length straight style in both black and light-wash denim. My exact pair has a high 10.5″ rise and a 26″ inseam in my size. The denim is rigid, and true to size overall.

90s Straight Jeans in Black: 24 Petite – I chose a pair of straight jeans from Madewell for my black option. These are also true to size and have a slightly lower rise than the Abercrombie pair (10″).
