Petite-Friendly Amazon Jeans and Pants

I’m often asked if I can recommend less expensive options for petites and I want to – I really do – but it’s not that easy. I get it, we all have different budgets, but my main focus is always going to be fit. I can find a lot of cute things that are less expensive, but if they don’t fit well it goes against my entire purpose here. With that being said, to strike the balance of helping all petites at all price points, I try my best to incorporate less expensive brands at least once a month that have a good enough fit – with the disclaimer that the fit may not be perfect all around. Some of my favorite brands for that are Old Navy, Target, and Walmart. Sometimes there just has to be a little give and take, it may cost less, but it’s also not a spot-on fit.

In comes Amazon. I get a lot of requests for Amazon fashion and I try to deliver when I can but it’s something I struggle with. I place orders and return most of them before any recommendations get made on here due to poor fit or poor quality. I’m very selective about what I share, with my goal always being the best fit and quality balance. You’re not going to trust me very much if I’m obsessed with everything and you order it and it’s garbage.

Not that you needed my inner thoughts on Amazon, but with the disclaimer out of the way, I did manage to find two pairs of pants and one pair of jeans from Amazon that I felt had a good enough fit and quality balance to recommend to you, but please take note of disclaimers made on each one.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My typical inseam is 24-25″. The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.

Straight Jeans

Of the three finds, I was most impressed with the fit and quality of these jeans. The jeans come in short, which by my measurements on my size (0 short) have an 11″ rise and a 27″ inseam. A 27″ inseam bunches a little bit at the ankle with flats on me and lays flat with a pair of heels. So the length overall is great. I don’t mind the rise, but it is higher than the rise of most of my other jeans (jeans from Abercrombie, Madewell, etc.) so keep that in mind if a high rise bothers you. I’m technically a 00 petite/short and that size wasn’t available, so I went with 0 short instead. They still fit well overall, with a little extra room, so I would consider them to be true to size. The tag on my jeans says they are 99% cotton, like most of my more expensive jeans, and felt thick and well-made overall. To note, the online description says these jeans have a different fabric make up.

Wide-Leg Trousers

I had these trousers saved in my cart for months before I finally decided to try them. I knew the length would work, but from the review pictures they looked baggy and puffy, so I just didn’t think they would work. I finally decided to try them and the verdict is they’re overall a good fit. They’re very comfortable and in the “thick” version the pants are warm and feel very similar to my Sloan pants from Abercrombie. In short, they have a 26″ inseam, but the rise is 13″ I have them pulled down to my waist in this photo, and they can be worn that way, but it makes the crotch hang down lower. Pulled all the way up, these pants are close to my chest. I still think they’re a good option to try due to their comfort and overall good quality. (Of course, if you’re taller, the fit may be perfect as well). To note, the pants have belt loops in the front, but not the back, so you can’t actually wear a belt with them.

Flare Pants

These flare pants are stretchy and thick like my ponte leggings from LOFT or Spanx Flare pants. They have a 30″ inseam option, which is the one I picked. At 30″ I need a 3″ heel at least to pull off the length, but again I felt this was a good enough option to offer up as a petite find. These pants are very comfortable and stretchy, but since they are like leggings, they’re best worn with an untucked top. I’m wearing them in XS here and they’re a little bit roomy on me as well, so you may want to size down if you’re in between sizes.
