When I get the chance I love showing layering options with a dress. It can be easy to think of wearing a dress one way, but if you have one that has a slim fit like this one, there are lots of different options for dressing it up and down.

One Dress Four Ways
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement of the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. Unless otherwise noted I find each item to fit true to size.
I chose a ribbed midi length option for this post, but if you like a shorter option, you may like this one from Walmart that is knee length on me (I’m planning a part two with that dress). The dress in this post fits me well in my true size and has generous stretch.
As Is
This dress is beautiful just worn on its own. Perfect for a casual date night. The tie at the waist is removable and can be replaced with a different belt if you wish.

With a Blazer
Since this dress is form-fitted, I think it looks the most professional with a blazer that’s mid-hip length. I paired it with heels and matched a belt to my shoes to tie it all together. The blazer is from J.Crew so it’s an investment piece, but you can’t beat the fit of J.Crew’s petite blazers, it’s perfect!

With a Lady Sweater
I knew I loved this striped sweater, but I didn’t realize I would wear it as much as I do. It’s a great piece for wearing in many different ways, including with this dress. You can see if worn more ways in this post and this post.

With a Denim Jacket
I went with a long denim jacket, but a classic fit jacket would work well with this outfit too (in hindsight I think I would like that better). The jacket I’m wearing also comes with a tie option, I’m wearing it in Petite XS and it fits true to size.
