Camel Blazer Four Ways

A camel blazer is a wardrobe classic I’ve had for many years. Blazers are an obvious pairing with workwear but can also be worn casually. Today, I’m sharing four ways to wear a classic camel blazer from J.Crew.

Camel Blazer Four Ways

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

Although a camel blazer is a classic I’ve worn for years, the way I wear it changes with trends and seasons. I wrote this post a few years ago about ways to style a camel blazer. Many of those outfits I would repeat now, but this season, I’m changing things like the shape and style of the jeans and pants and the shoes I pair with them. In that post, I styled the Parke Blazer from J.Crew. A style I’ve loved for many years but is no longer available at J.Crew. This season, I’m styling the Helena blazer. It’s similar to the Parke blazer but is slightly longer and boxier – for a more modern fit. If we compare the colors, this blazer has fewer orange undertones. Fit notes on the Helena blazer: it’s true to size and true to J.Crew blazers it has a perfect petite fit through the arms and shoulders.

With Burgundy (or a monochromatic base)

A monochromatic base plus a camel blazer is a perfect pairing. Other colors you could use to achieve this same look are black, navy, cream, red, and green. The pants in this outfit are from J.Crew Factory and, on sale (which they often are), are an under $50 option. The pants have a great full-length fit, and I love the quality! Overall, they are true to size, and I’m wearing them in Petite 00 for reference. The top I’m wearing has slightly puffed sleeves and a silky feel. It doesn’t come in petite but is still an overall good fit. I’m wearing it in XXS for reference.

With Leopard

I’m excited about the resurgence of leopard print! I don’t think I will wear it in pants and coats (of course, never say never), but little pops of leopard like this crewneck sweater is right up my alley. I’ll also be wearing leopard print in dresses and skirts (I have a couple of really cute leopard dresses to share with you next week). My exact leopard sweater is from J.Crew, but I’m also linking a less expensive option from J.Crew Factory. I paired it with charcoal wash jeans from J.Crew. This is a cropped flare style, but I chose regular sizing to wear them full length. The petite length has a 25″ inseam, and the regular length has a 27″ inseam. I love them cropped, but they pair the best with boots when they’re a little bit longer, and I wanted to be able to wear them that way. If you go for regular sizing, I recommend a size down from your usual size; they run slightly large.

Plaid Skirt

This plaid skirt can be worn in so many different ways for fall! It’s one of those pieces I look at and think I could wear it this way, this way, and this way, too! It may need its own post. But for now, I think it’s a great pairing with a camel blazer. The skirt doesn’t come in petite, but it’s a great length for petites in regular sizing. Plus, it’s long enough to be worn to work and church if you want to! Notes on the white top I’m wearing. It’s thin and lightweight, great for layering under sweaters and sweatshirts, but sheer. I need to find us some new options for fall that aren’t see-through.

With a Dress

You can wear a blazer with dresses and skirts. In this case, I layered it over a sleeveless dress, which is a great way to take this dress into fall and keep your arms covered. The dress runs small, so I recommend a size up for the best fit. Although I went for heels here, flats are also a great option.
