Neutral outfits for work are always a reader favorite. In this post I styled a pair of Aritzia Effortless Pants in two outfits and a Twirl skirt in two others for four simple and easy-to-recreate outfits.

Neutral Outfits for Work
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Aritzia Effortless Pants
A couple of months ago I wrote up a review of Artizia’s Effortless Pants. In that review I was wearing a pair in the short length (a little bit too long for me) and in this one I’m wearing the shorter length (also a little bit too long for me). While both lengths aren’t a perfect length, the fit and drape of the pants is great everywhere else, making these worthy of the investment and a hem. The shorter length does work well for me with a pair of heels, so I plan to keep these as is for wearing with boots. I recommend using their fit estimator when picking your size. I am typically 00/24 in most brands, but the fit estimator recommends a size 0 in the Effortless Pants and that ended up being the best overall fit for me.
Measurements taken from a size 0.
- Measurements in short: 11″ rise, 29.5″ inseam
- Measurements in shorter: 11″ rise, 28″ inseam
I paired them with a boatneck neck top from Madewell in one outfit and a wrap sweater in a similar color in the next. In both outfits I wore slim knee-high boots under the pants for an extra warmth idea! The belt I’m wearing in both outfits is a little bit long for me. I secured the end with a clear hair tie. For reference I have a 24″ waist and I’m wearing it in XS.

The wrap sweater runs large so I recommend a size down. I’m wearing it in XXS for reference. The wrap opens too low for my tastes so I will either layer this one over a camisole or wear it pinned liked I have it here.

Twirl Skirt
I have been singing the praises of the Twirl Skirt for the last couple of months. I love pleated skirts in general, but the design and fabric of this one makes it extra special. The skirt has an elastic waistband, is fully lined and has a sheer pleated overlay. I have this skirt in a few colors and added a black one which I think makes a perfect compliment to workwear.
In the first outfit I went for a warm option with knee-high boots and black turtleneck.

In the next I added a wrap sweater in soft neutral cream. The sweater runs large, so I recommend a size down. For reference, I’m wearing it in XXS. It does not need to be pinned at the top and is a functional wrap. You could also wear boots with this outfit.

Although beautiful, Aritzia pieces can be pricey so stay tuned to my IG stories and posts for upcoming holiday sales!
