I have reviewed the jeans from many brands over the years, but Gap is one I haven’t given a lot of attention to. I blame that on not finding a great fit with the first few I tried and writing off the rest. But, after many requests and recommendations from my readers I went back for another try. Here are the petite jeans that worked (and some that didn’t) from Gap.

Petite Jeans from Gap
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
When it comes to my denim reviews, I share my own measurements and the measurements for the jeans I tried to help you compare how they may fit you. I use 25″ as my overall inseam measurement, for me that is the length of the inside of my leg to my ankle bone. But depending on the style of the jeans I can wear jeans with an inseam of up to 28″ with a pair of flats. I take the measurements from the size I’m wearing and sometimes inseam measurements can go up slightly as the sizes go up. Gap offers their jeans in petite, but also in regular sizing in short. The short length is 1.5″ shorter than regular and the petite length is 2.5″ shorter. In this post I’m showing all styles in petite.
High Rise Slim Vintage Jeans
- 10″ Rise
- 25″ Inseam
- Stretch denim
- True to size
- Measurements taken from petite 24
The Slim Vintage Jeans have a close fit through the hips and thighs and a slim fit to the ankle. They’re similar to skinny jeans but not as slim at the bottom. I chose a white pair, but this style also comes in other washes. They have a high 10″ rise and a 25″ inseam. For me, this pair has perfect proportions for a pair of ankle jeans. I find them to be comfortable, stretchy and overall true to size. The white denim is not see-through.

Mid Rise Slim Vintage Jeans
- 9″ Rise
- 25.5″ Inseam
- Stretch denim
- Size up if in between sizes
- Measurements taken from petite 24
The Vintage Slim Jeans also comes in a mid rise option. The rise is 1″ shorter, but the inseam is .5″ longer (not sure why). I found this pair to run a little bit small. I’m still wearing my true size but if you’re in between sizes I would go up a size. They’re stretchy and comfortable. This particular style has a raw hem so you can trim it yourself if you want to.

High Rise ’70s Flare Jeans
- 10″ Rise
- 29″ Inseam
- Stretch denim
- True to size
- Measurements taken from petite 24
The ’70s Flare Jeans are my favorite from this try-on. They have a high 10″ rise and a balanced flare leg (the flare isn’t too large). I find them to be true to size and they don’t bag out with wear. I have to wear a low 2″ heel with this inseam, but I love the leg lengthening effect it gives.

Which styles didn’t work?
High Rise Stride Wide Leg Ankle Jeans
I also tried the Stride Wide Leg Ankle Jeans and they have a great fit up top but were too long to be a true ankle length on me. I have not tried the full-length stride style so I have that on my list to try next.
This style is highly recommended by some of my readers but they were too long for me. The style bunched at my ankles and also felt too tight across my hips and gaped at the waist. They are cut very straight and I’m not majorly curvy but I do have a little bit of curve. They were just overall not proportioned for me.
High Rise Cheeky Straight Jeans
These jeans were short enough but they were also cut too straight for my shape. They were too snug around my hips and too loose at the waist. Although they weren’t cut for me, these are still a great option for petites in general because of their length.
I plan to try more of the styles, in particular the wide and baggy options. I’ll be sure to share how they fit soon!
