Hamburger Meatballs, sounds a little backwards when you think about it. Ground beef often being referred to as hamburger, makes up these meatballs, but they are hamburger because they taste like the classic American hamburger with all the fixins’. I’m not typically a huge meat eater, but pregnancy has me craving meat some kind of bad and this weekend it was hamburgers. However, anything super heavy, like a hamburger makes me feel like I’m going to explode…so in stepped, hamburger meatballs!
I tossed together everything I love on my hamburger; onions, banana peppers, ketchup and mustard, sans lettuce of course because lettuce in a meatball, not a good combination. You could, if it tickles your fancy, wrap these meatballs in a lettuce wrap once cooked, that could be interesting.
We chose to eat ours just the way they were and they were good. The kind of good that has people nearly eating a pound of meat at one sitting without realizing it (I blame hubby). Easy to pop in your mouth, easy to make and easy to take for lunch the next day. The only one I couldn’t convince to love them, was my toddler, but he’s chicken finger biased at the moment.
So, grab your ketchup and mustard and get to work, if you love a classic hamburger, you’re sure to love these!
