As the leaves get ready to change color any day now, this combo celebrates the fun shades that are fall. Once again, by taking a simple summer dress and pairing it with a sweater and scarf, you get the perfect outfit for those milder days (you know the ones where a t-shirt would have you feeling a bit chilly but a sweater and jeans would have you sweating to the oldies).
This weekend I plan to enjoy the mild weather in the mountains with my hubby. I have been itching to go hiking for a while, and we have been talking about how we’d like to do an overnight hike where we trek up the mountain and set up shop in the wilderness. This past weekend as we were formulating our plan of attack, the hubby (former marine and current part time airman) tried to gauge my readiness for an overnight by whether I would be willing to eat MRE’s for our meals. MRE for those who don’t know stands for “meals ready to eat.” Basically the meals that soldiers eat while in combat – just open and eat. Now, I am sure that MRE’s are just grand in the right time and place (like, times of survival) but for a single overnight hike I am not quite on board. I suggested we could pack PB and J’s and other everyday foods that didn’t require refrigeration. He tried to sway my decision by proceeding to tell me about all of the options that are available, including PB&J but I wasn’t about to take the bait.
We decided instead to go “glamping” and put up our tent at a campground (if we don’t get rained out). Hopefully one of these days we will take our overnight hiking trip, and when we do, come up with a more appealing menu.

Something good that happened to me today was getting a great cup of coffee from a local coffee shop downtown. It’s drizzly and wet out but a perfect day nonetheless!
