The Busy Mom’s Guide To Being Present In The Moment

There is nothing quite as hectic as the life of a mom. We see you at the playground struggling with the tantrums, handing out the snacks and trying to keep it together. Amid all that chaos, it’s easy to miss the beautiful moments with your children, the wholesome times that quickly pass. Your little ones are smiling, laughing and learning from you, but are you soaking it in? If your answer is no, that’s OK.

We have a few tips for you to start cherishing those beautiful moments right now.

Drop the distractions and be present! There are plenty of things in our lives that distract us from what really matters: our loved ones. A big one used to be our phones! Are you guilty of spending a little too much time glued to that phone screen? It’s hard to be present if you’re distracted by your newsfeed. To combat this issue, we both set aside time each day to do nothing but play with our kids. We take them to the park, to the zoo or even just to the backyard for a game of tag.

We have picnics and talk about our day, we savor the conversation. We live in the moment. During that time, our phones are nowhere to be found. We love social media and email just as much as the next person — we are bloggers, after all. But if we spent each day with our noses in our phones, we would miss all the sweet giggles, smiles and “Mommy, watch this!” moments.

Dropping the obvious distractions will definitely help you stay present with your kids, but something you may not be thinking about is how you look and feel. One huge distraction in life is our own self-confidence. Especially as busy moms, it’s easy to put your own feelings on the back burner, but if you work to feel your most beautiful self, you’ll be more confident, have more energy and be more focused to cherish the beautiful moments!

So, how are you supposed to invest more time in yourself when much of your time and energy is already being devoted to your children and life’s everyday tasks? Start with a natural energy boost through exercise and eating a diet abundant in wholesome foods. Not only is exercise the most natural way to boost your energy, it can also pump up your mood! If you set aside just 30 minutes a day or even 30 minutes every other day for a great workout, you’ll be more energized and less stressed, which means you’ll have more patience and better focus to handle the #momlife chaos! And since you are what you eat, make sure the foods you are consuming are clean and fresh so your skin and body can not only look but feel their best!

Use the extra energy gained from exercising and eating healthier to help yourself jump out of bed a little earlier each morning! Then with those few additional minutes carved out of your morning, take a moment to care for your hair. While we love a good messy bun from time to time, nothing beats the confidence you’ll gain from a bouncy blowout. Garnier® has developed a brand-new line of hair products, Whole Blends™, which is all naturally inspired! Your diet is wholesome, so shouldn’t your haircare products also be?

Lately we’ve been using the Garnier® Whole Blends™ Refreshing Hair Care System, consisting of shampoo, conditioner and spray formulated with Green Apple and Green Tea extracts. All blends are paraben-free, so it’s gentle for everyday use. And the refreshing formula revitalizes our hair and boosts shine, with a delicious scent that lingers all day long.

After only a week, our hair was more manageable and easy to style, making us feel pretty as a picture without spending a ton of time doing our hair. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of confidence from getting yourself cleaned up (quickly) to show off the beautiful person you truly are. Garnier’s Whole Blends line comes in a variety of formulas, so it’s easy to find the one that works best for you!

Don’t forget your outfit as well! You don’t have to be dressed to the nines every day to feel good about yourself — even a basic top with a pair of jeans and cute flats will make you feel more put together and confident!

The best moments in life are the simple ones. Time spent with your kids — watching them learn, play and explore — is too valuable to waste. Don’t spend your days exhausted, stressed and distracted. Invest a little time in yourself, because you are important! Once you feel your best and let go of the distractions, you’ll have the perfect recipe to soak in life’s most beautiful moments.

Tell us about your beautiful moments for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card.

These are such good tips! It can be really hard to stay present, but I love the idea (that seems counter-intuitive) that you can be more present when you take time for yourself. During that precious (but also hectic) time after I pick up Jona from daycare and before he goes to bed, I do try to be as present as I can!

This was such an incredible read, I am working on being present in the moment. I’ve had to put my blog on the backburner because I don’t want to miss any of my baby’s moments, but that leaves very little time for me to do anything for myself. I’m going to take your advice and set aside some time everyday just for exercising or downtime for myself.
