There is one place that has always been a part of my life where I can truly feel relaxed and stress free. There are no expectations, no wifi, and no tv; only fun in the sun and naps in the hammock on the porch overlooking the water. This place is my family river house. Shared between my dad and his brother and sisters (and their families), I have spent much of my summers here since I was a baby. So many fond memories have occurred here, from endless hours on the water to evenings by the campfire listening to live music played by my family. One of the most serene times of day is the early morning, when the water is smooth as glass, the air is cool and crisp, and there is a tranquil calm that permeates as many people remain cozy in their beds. It’s absolutely beautiful and I love it. I look forward to years of sharing this place with my daughter and seeing it become as special to her as it is to me.

I think it can be the best thing to actually “get away”. I just read an article (probably in AARP–ha ha—something you won’t get for another many years)—about how important it can be to do nothing at times. How is cleanses our brain and makes us more creative!!

This sounds like a wonderful place! While I don’t really have a place like that, but any getaway (or even day off at home) helps to recharge my batteries. I just wish I could have them more often!!

I’ve definitely been trying to enjoy it more this year! Since entering the working world I would only go for the weekend so any relaxation time would be cut short but now that I am staying home with baby girl, I’m trying to stay as many of the days during our allotted week as possible.
