Happy Saturday! This morning, I want to talk mindset and what I see in successful people and the ones who give up. By successful, I’m referring to healthy eating and consistent exercise.
Your mind controls you and you think you control your mind. You do! However, sometimes we let our insecurities or anxieties take over and lose control. Don’t let that happen. Always check yourself. People who are successful at staying fit are not just lucky, or it’s easier for them for some reason. They have the right the mindset.
The focus should never be on losing weight. You will easily give up if that is your only focus. That is an added bonus to a healthy lifestyle, but should only be a secondary goal. The focus should be on being healthy and feeling great. The longer you’re active, the worse you feel when you skip a day. It will become a habit to you, something that happens 5-6 times a week and you’re not complete without. The high you feel after a workout will be something you crave. When you’re eating healthy consistently, you will feel pretty yucky when you have a soda or something you wouldn’t normally eat. I know I do. It doesn’t mean I don’t crave them and still have them, but I definitely notice a difference when I ‘treat’ myself to the occasional soda than if I just stuck to water.
The hard part is the beginning. Many of us have eaten a certain way our entire lives. The way we eat, the foods we like are engrained in us. It is difficult to change that. Keep in mind, after a month of consistently changing your diet, it will feel easier, you will find things you enjoy eating that are still great for you and your body will thank you.
The women who are the most successful are the ones who aren’t concerned with their calories or how much weight they lost that week. They’re just having fun, feeling great with their change in activity and diet. The ones who are counting every little thing and stepping on the scale dreading the number are the ones that after a couple weeks or a month give up because they’re so mentally exhausted. Try to relax and just go with it.
A healthy life and weightloss is an up and down journey. It will not always be pretty, it will not always be perfect and the results will not always be constant.
Stay consistent, positive and don’t let the anxiety consume you! The secondary gains (weight loss, muscle tone) are coming.
