I see her often, my twin – at Starbucks, at the mall, and browsing the aisles of Target. Not my literal twin, but my coat twin. Because the Chateau Parka was the best outerwear purchase I’ve ever made, and the masses agree.
A coat is one of those things that if you invest well in a classic style, you won’t need to buy another one for many years. The Chateau Parka is an investment, but a wise one – and it makes a pretty sweet gift since we’re close to Christmas and all.
Petite Fit: The Chateau Parka
If you’re petite like me and thinking of picking up a Chateau Parka, my fit pointers may surprise you. The parka comes in petite, but I actually purchased mine in the regular size.
I found the petite to be very tight in the arms and shoulders. On me, the sleeves were also short. Since big sweaters are often worn under coats, I needed the extra room. Plus, I like the sleeves to be a little long on a coat, for extra warmth.
Update: I have since purchased this coat in petite 0 instead and prefer the fit! Those tight sleeves stretch out and the petite fit is more flattering. Find the updated post here.
The petite version is a tad shorter and little bit more flattering than the regular version on my petite frame, but the extra shoulder room is worth it to me.
Quality Points
My coat is now a year old, and it’s still beautiful. I wear this coat near daily during the winter (last year and this year so far) and I’ve had it dry cleaned once. The fur around the hood is removable as well.
Honorable Mentions
It wouldn’t be fair in a post about coats if I didn’t mention my other favorite coat from J.Crew. It’s a girls coat actually, that I bought last year in a size 14. This puffer parka is the warmest coat in my closet, so I love to wear it in the snow! If you have a little girl, you two could totally twin. I went with the girls version myself because it’s very similar to the womens version, but half the price! There is also a girls Chataue Parka!

If it wasn’t such a big purchase to make, I would buy another parka in red, but we’ll just save that for another year! Do you have a favorite coat?
