Y’all know I love my curls. I love them even more when my hair is longer, if only it would grow a little faster. Side note, remind me never to cut it short again.
It doesn’t seem to matter whether I curl my hair with a curling iron, wand, or flat iron – the result is essentially the same. So, what makes the difference for me, is which one is the fastest and the easiest. In comes the CHI Lave Spin N Curl.
CHI Lave Spin N Curl
My first thought when I saw this – it’s a rat’s nest waiting to happen. I didn’t see how this thing was going to magically suck my hair into it and create a curl, but it does. It curls beautifully, without tangles, rat’s nests and I don’t know if I want to use my other curling irons anymore.
How to Curl Your Hair With the CHI Lava Spin N Curl
I was really intimidated, but after that first curl, I was just impressed. So here’s how to use the Spin N Curl.
First, I put pea size amount of CHI Silk Infusion through my dry hair. I have fine hair, so I didn’t want to use a lot – depending on your hair texture, you may want to use more.
Spray With Heat Protection Spray
Next, I sprayed my hair with CHI 44 Iron Guard. You can spray this on each section before each pass of the iron, or if you like the fast route like me, just spray it all over your hair before curling.
Work in One Inch Sections
Start by grabbing a section of hair, no wider than an inch. I grabbed about an inch. Then place the hair into the open part of the iron, with the flat part facing your head. I wasn’t sure if it matter where the hair landed in the iron or whether it was at the top or the bottom. It doesn’t matter. You can place it literally anywhere and the iron sucks it up.
Press the Curl Button
Then you just press a button, there are two depending on the direction you want the iron to curl. Hold the iron until a beep tells you to release it, then pull it down.
Just Repeat
Continue curling in one inch sections, all of your head of course. I even went back after and did another layer with the top pieces of my hair.
Bouncy Curls
Then you’ll have tight bouncy curls. Which is pretty, but not my style. So, I spray my hair down with hairspray, and brush out the curls to soften them.

Other Things to Know
The iron has adjustable heat, I used it on the medium setting. You can also adjust the time it will sit in your hair, 15 seconds for fine hair like mine and up to 19 seconds for coarse hair. There is also tangle protection!
Trust me, if you want easy curls, anyone can do, give this iron a try!
