I’m not ashamed to admit that I love to shop. Am I browsing Facebook when I’m on my phone? Probably not – I’m browsing the J.Crew site instead. Even when I have no intention of buying anything, I just like to browse what’s new and coming next.
Of course, we’re in that awkward season of not quite spring, not quite winter, but a lot of what my favorite retailers have been offering lately is a lot of what I already own. I can’t tell you how much it tickles me to be looking for what’s new and find that it’s already hanging in my closet. Saves money, and it tells me I’ve done well in the past with wardrobe choices I’ve made. So, I decided to do a series of posts around those key pieces that I’ve invested in that are still current/classic and being sold today. First up, this J.Crew Classic Fit Gingham Shirt.
J.Crew Gingham Shirt
Is this top the most worn item on my blog? Maybe. You’ve also seen me wear it here, here, here, and here. It is probably the most worn item in my closet in general. Next to another classic, the sweater blazer.
Maybe it’s because I’m a creature habit, or maybe it’s because it’s just so darn versatile, but if you ask me, this is one top you should invest in. I’ll tell you why.
It’s Comfortable
This top has a very light and airy oversized fit. Making it incredibly comfortable when worn untucked. I reach for it often when I want to be able to move around in my outfit and feel good.
The Classic Print
I think a comfortable button down shirt is classic and essential in any print or solid color, but what I especially love about this top in particular is the gingham print. This top comes in many colors (which makes me want to grab another one) but the navy can be paired with just about anything. I love to wear it with pink, red, camel, leopard, white, green – the possibilities are numerous.
Versatility
I love to wear this gingham top untucked and carefree, but it also looks just as great tucked in with a polished blazer, half tucked with a cardigan, or tucked into a skirt or slacks for work. I also wear it with shorts in the summer, as seen in this post. (SN: that post has me missing my long hair and summer tan).
Washes Well
Finally, this gingham top is over a year old, very well worn, and looks just as good as it did on day one. Out of the wash it always requires a little extra ironing, the thin fabric wrinkles; but it wears without wrinkles. I will continue to buy J.Crew’s classic button down shirts over and over again for this very reason, they last!
Shop This Post
So, if you’re looking for something classic and lasting to add to your closet, this gingham top will not disappoint! For my fellow shorties out there, I’m wearing a petite 00, and it has an oversized fit.
