We all love a good Walmart post. Walmart has really stepped up its quality, and although it’s a little bit harder to find a perfect fit, there are some winning pieces here and there. Today, I have a few to share with you that are great summer basics to have in your closet and are all under $40.

Walmart Elevated Basics
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Scalloped Tank Top
If there is one thing I know about Walmart, it’s that their pieces sell out quickly – especially the good ones. This knit scalloped tank top is one I think will be quick to go. It has scallops at the neck and arms. It also has a perfect fit through the arms (no gaping). In white it’s not see-through at all, but it also comes in other colors.

Seersucker Set
Seersucker isn’t really a basic, but it’s a summer classic that can still be versatile and neutral. Full disclosure – this set isn’t a perfect fit if you’re petite, but I think it’s one that, with a few exceptions, can work well for most. Starting with the shorts. I’m wearing them in a size 0 and they fit me well through the hips but have extra room through the waist. I think if you can go down a size, you’re going to find a better fit. I’m wearing the blazer in XS, and since it’s not petite, it’s a little bit wide on the shoulders and long in the arms. I think an easy fix for the fit of this blazer is to wear the sleeves pushed back instead. If you’re looking for a seersucker blazer with a better fit (slightly higher price point) this blazer from J.Crew Factory is great.

Button-Down Top
This 100% cotton button-down has a cropped boxy fit that’s a great length for petites. I’m wearing it here in XS and find it to fit well. You can wear this basic open, untucked, or fully tucked into a pair of shorts, jeans, and skirts. I paired it here with denim shorts from Madewell. Black Dress
This knit dress borders on maxi length (if you’re petite) and is a close fit without being skin-tight. I’m wearing it here in XS and appreciate the fit through the arms and top. This would be a great dress to layer a few ways, like in this post.
