The clothing section is always a tempting one to browse on those Target trips. There have been many occasions I’ve come home with a little more than I had planned on thanks to the cute dresses and sweaters that call my name.
Target isn’t the most petite friendly place I shop, with many things being fairly hit or miss in the fit department. However, some of my favorite basics for layering come from Target. They have great t-shirts, honestly they’re really the best I’ve tried in terms of quality and price. I’m also a big fan of their sweaters and layering pieces like kimonos and wraps. So, today I’m sharing a few of the fall basics I’ve picked up from Target recently, and putting together a couple outfits with them.
Fall Basics from Target
Classic Fall Cardigan
This is the most basic fall outfit around, pair of jeans, t-shirt, booties and a big cozy cardigan. As basic as it is, I can’t stop wearing it. An oversized cardigan can be overwhelming on a petite person, but I think this one is a good balance of oversized without being too much. The cardigan is a heavy knit and comes in other colors. I’m wearing it in xs.

Cozy Wrap
Target calls this a ruana – I have no clue what that is, or how to say it, so I’m going to call it a wrap. It’s like a warm blanket you can wear. When I ordered it online I didn’t realize it was a sweater material, but I love it even more after finding that out. I’m wearing it here with a basic long sleeve tee. The long sleeve tee is another great Target basic. However, I don’t love this olive color and plan to exchange it for one of the other many colors they offer in this top!

Wrap Part 2
Another way to wear the wrap is with a tank top or cami. Perfect for those days that there is a little fall chill in the air, but it’s not quite cool enough for full blown long sleeve layers.

Cozy Sweatshirt
I cringed a little bit at the amount of times I said “cozy” in my IGtv try on of this post, but it was just the most fitting adjective for these fall basics. This top is considered an ottoman top. I thought ottomans were a piece of furniture, but apparently ottoman is also a type of fabric that is pretty popular for the fall. I would describe it along the lines of a light sweatshirt/heavy t-shirt that is ribbed. It’s the kind of top you can just throw on and go with a pair of jeans.

I also picked up this top in white, but I prefer the gray of the two. I wanted to show it untucked and tucked, both great ways to wear it.
