2021 My Favorite Things: Home

2021 Favorites: Home

Since we built our home in 2016, it has mostly just been empty. I put off decorating for a long time because I can be really indecisive when it comes to putting home decor together. It’s definitely not my strong suit. In 2021 I was made it a goal to finally decorate and make our home more personal. I found a few great things I think you’ll love too.

Ruggable Rugs

I have two dogs, two kids, and two cats in my house – needless to say, rugs I bought in the past barely survived six months. I bought one Ruggable rug for my living room in January 2021 and after using it for about a month I ended up buying several more. Hands down my favorite rug purchase ever and I will never stop recommending them if you’re someone who has a busy mess-prone household.

The rugs are thinner, but you can buy a thicker rug pad for them (I just have the thin one). I wash mine I would say a couple of times a month, mainly because I have an accident-prone 15-year-old dog. Even my largest 8×10 rug fits well in the washer and dryer. Some of my toppers have shrunk slightly, but it’s probably because I dry them and that’s not really recommended. However, the shrinking is minimal and doesn’t bother me. It’s worth it to be able to wash it.

I have the Kamran Hazel rug through most of my house and love the muted neutral colors.

Everett Foyer Table

Pinterest made me do it with this table purchase. My naked foyer finally got a little something this year and I took to Pinterest for inspiration. This table is from World Market and it’s not only beautiful, but it’s also well made for its price point. I put it together myself in under an hour and love how it pulls my space together!

Barefoot Dreams Blanket

Ok, if Pinterest made me buy the table, Instagram made me buy this blanket. This blanket is ridiculously expensive, I’ll say that. I bought it during the Nordstrom sale just to see what the hype is all about. I fully expected to return it but once I felt it’s stretchy softness for myself it was a definite keeper! You have to just experience it for yourself to really get it, but it’s stretchy so it’s like being a cocoon of softness. I ended up buying my son one for his birthday because we always fought over it and it was definitely his favorite gift! I do have a dupe to this blanket from Pink Lily that’s pretty close in the softness level, but it’s not as big. You can take 20% off at Pink Lily with my code PUMPS20

Foyer Table Decor

When it came to decorating my foyer table, I went to Target and basically just filled my cart! I grabbed two large baskets, a round mirror and a clear base lamp, I’ll link them all below.

Master Bedroom Finds

My master bedroom was another area that was just left a little bare all these years. I still have a ways to go with it this year, but I did add a few things that made it feel more put together and cozy. First, I put a ruggable under my bed and added a new cozy duvet cover. I bought a waffle weave duvet cover from Bedsure on Amazon and love it so much! I ended up buying two for my boys as well after having mine. It’s cozy and just makes the best so inviting. I also added two glass-bottom lamps to our bedside tables that I love! They’re similar to the lamp I bought at Target, but they’re a little bit bigger.

Closet Organization

At the beginning of the year, I intended to create a blog office to shoot content and organize everything. But I ultimately decided I didn’t like it. I preferred my corner in my bedroom that 90% of my videos are made in. So, this year I’m planning to move the closet system I purchased from that room into my actual master closet and hopefully streamline everything! One thing I purchased last year that I will buy over and over again (if I need more) is these velvet hangers. I’ve slowly been replacing all of my hangers with them. Having the same color hanger always makes your closet look more organized. Plus these are slim so you can hang more and the clothes don’t fall off of the velvet. On the topic of closet organization – I’ll be doing a big purge and am planning to post some things on Poshmark this month so keep an eye out for that if you’re interested!

I plan to continue tweaking things around my house this year so let me know if you like that kind of content, I’ll be sure to share!
