So, I ordered those molds, then went popsicle crazy. I made chocolate ones, yogurt ones and fruit ones. Then I thought I would get a little crazy and add perrier to the mix, the result; fizzy, fun, and addicting popsicles. The best part, they’re guilt free!
Fizzy Guilt Free Popsicles
Perrier has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My Mimi is an avid drinker of it, and I remember feeling so special as a kid sharing a glass of fizzy bubbles with her. If you’re not familiar with Perrier, it is flavored carbonated mineral water, without any calories or sugar. It’s fizzy, refreshing, and makes for some pretty fun popsicles. Of all the popsicles I experimented with, the three flavors below were my favorite. I started with Strawberry, Lime and Pink Grapefuit Perrier and then added in fresh fruit, honey and yogurt to make these lightly sweet combinations.
Strawberry Popsicles
Ingredients (makes 6 popsicles)
- 1 pound strawberries
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 8.45 fl oz can Strawberry Perrier
- Cut up and puree the strawberries in a blender with honey.
- Add the can of Strawberry Perrier and stir (don’t blend!)
- Do a little taste test and add more honey if you feel like it needs a little more sweetness for your tastes. I tried to keep mine low sugar so they would stay healthy.
- Fill molds and freeze for at least four hours.
Peach Grapefruit Popsicles
Ingredients (makes 6 popsicles)
- 1 large peach
- 1/2 large grapefruit
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 8.45 fl oz can Pink Grapefruit Perrier
- Peel the skin from the peach and the grapefruit, then puree them in a blender with honey.
- Add the perrier and stir (don’t blend!)
- Taste test! Add more honey if you prefer a little more sweetness.
- Fill molds and freeze for at least four hours.
Cherry Lime Popsicles
Ingredients (makes 6 popsicles)
- 1 cup cherries
- 1/2 lime
- 1/4 cup nonfat greek yogurt (plain or vanilla)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 8.45 fl oz can Lime Perrier
- 1 tbsp honey
- Remove the pits from the cherries. Then puree cherries with the juice of the lime.
- Add honey, yogurt, vanilla extract and blend.
- Add Perrier and stir (don’t blend!)
- Taste test! Add more honey to taste.
- Fill molds and freeze for at least 4 hours.
The stainless steel molds I used made all the difference for me. They were easy to use, and you can release perfect little popsicles by running warm water over the mold for just a second. Of course, I made my popsicles lower in sugar to keep them healthy. If you want sweeter popsicles you’ll need to add more honey.
If you need me, I’ll be in the kitchen making more popsicles, because I’m pretty sure these have become one of my favorite (guilt free) things!
