I recently found a pair of flare jeans at Abercrombie that I could wear with flats. It was a first for me, so to say I was excited was an understatement. Don’t get me wrong; I love the look of flares and heels; it gives the illusion of long legs, but I have been dying to find a pair that I could style with more than just heels.

Four Ways to Wear Flare Jeans
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Abercrombie Vintage Flare Jeans
The Vintage Flare jeans from Abercrombie have a high 11″ rise and a 27.5″ inseam in extra short. They’re rigid denim without stretch, but I find them comfortable to wear. I even wore them on a recent flight (and was stopped in the airport by someone asking me where my jeans were from). Abercrombie jeans can be very high-rise, not every style, but the 11″ rise, like on these jeans, is high; they are to my rib cage. I know that high rise doesn’t work well for every petite person, but I personally love them! I post jeans with many different fits, so this pair may not be for you, but the next pair might be; I’m always searching!
Another thing to mention is the availability of extra short lengths. The extra short sizes at Abercrombie always go quickly. The trick is looking for the new arrivals. Abercrombie jeans are often the same styles with new washes released. So when you click the style, the first wash that pops up isn’t always the newest in-stock wash; you have to click through them to find the newest arrivals and in-stock options. Whenever I catch a restock of a style I’ve shared I often share it to my IG story as well. In the case of these jeans, they are already mostly sold out in extra short, but I’m keeping an eye on them!
With a Cropped Top
This first top has a cropped fit with eyelet trim. It also has a lining at the chest that is fitted to the chest, almost like a shelf bra (if that makes sense). It’s meant to be worn with your midriff showing, but I’m just not comfortable with that, so I have it layered with a camisole, and I think that works well since the top meets the top of the jeans.

With a Flutter Sleeve Top
I came across this top at Anthropologie recently and just loved all of the detail. It’s fitted on the sides, and the ruffles billow over the top and back (one of those you just have to see in person to appreciate). I think it’s a great pairing with flare jeans, but it also works well with slim jeans.

With a Sweatshirt
This outfit is the exact one I wore on a recent trip. Did I sweat outside? yes. Was I warm in the airport and on the plane? yes! This sweatshirt has a cropped fit that’s banded at the bottom, so it’s easy to wear pulled up to your waist. A great pairing to the flare jeans.

With a Funnel Neck Top
I have started seeing tops in this style all over the place, and I love it! The cropped wide fit paired with the funnel-neck is perfection. This exact top is open fairly wide on the sides, so I layer it over a camisole.
