Getting Organized For 2017 With Stickerapp

2017 is just around the corner and I’ve been really focused on trying to revamp my organizational process so that I can start off the new year on the right foot. Basically everything that worked for me in the past hasn’t really been working for my current life situation. I thrive off order so having minimal structure to my list making and schedule planning just leaves my life feeling chaotic and all over the place. I’m very visual so a lot of me feeling organized comes down how neat, well laid out and fun everything looks on paper (I know I am not alone here given all the planner making stuff that’s out there). So when the makers of Caseapp asked if we were interested in trying out their custom sticker site, Stickerapp, I knew exactly what I wanted to do! Making my own custom stickers was the perfect way to organize the different areas of my life while also upping the pretty factor.  I’m also a sucker for having motivational quotes within sight to keep my head in the game so I was able to take all of my favorites and make them into cute stickers to be placed throughout my planner and lists!

One of the biggest changes to my list making was creating a to-do list that is more long term with due dates to stay on track. Rewriting my to-do’s over and over again was a waste of time and keeping a running list would just make it hard to separate out big time projects from the piddly day to day stuff. Setting due dates keeps me on track since I work much better when there is a deadline I have to meet. Otherwise things just eternally sit on my to-do list as I find other “to-do’s” that are much easier to cross off instead. So now my lists are broken down into: Long term, weekly and daily. Weekly goals are written out based on long-term goals and any deadlines that might be approaching as well as any short term projects that have come up for the week. From that point I can figure out how I want to delegate tasks to complete these goals over each day of the week. Daily to-do’s are broken down into the three primary focal points in my life: home, blog and personal development. Home is for pretty much anything that needs to be done in my life that isn’t blog or personal development: laundry, home projects, reading for baby girl, gift shopping…you get the idea. The blog section is pretty self explanatory and personal development is where I tackle something every day that is for the betterment of me. A big part of my big picture goals for 2017 is a focus back on personal development since much of 2016 centered on figuring out how to take care of a tiny human being. So whether it’s learning a new photography skill to reading a business article, I’ll be making it a daily priority to do something to take care of me.

My book list is broken up into non-fiction and fiction or how I like to think about it: personal development and storytime. I had thought about setting due dates for the books on my list but I like to use the library as much as possible and sometimes books are not available right when I want them so instead I just have a running list and will use my long term and weekly goals lists to stay on top of it.

I will tell you one thing – these are some high quality stickers here. They aren’t those flimsy paper thin stickers that rip in half if you try to pull them off of whatever surface they are stuck to. They are window decal quality – waterproof and scratch proof so you can pretty much put them anywhere. I’m a fan. 🙂

So, how are you getting ready for 2017?
