Relationship goals, wardrobe goals, health goals; we’ve got goals. Do you? If one of your big goals is to live a healthier lifestyle, we have three mini goals you should be adding to your morning routine, starting tomorrow!
Wake Up Earlier. Don’t get us wrong, you need your rest, but waking up just a little bit earlier allows you to start your day relaxed and focused rather than rushed and all over the place. If you’re not running late then you are less likely to be stressed! A little extra time gives you a chance to get your thoughts and your calendar organized for the day. Also, take a few minutes each morning to breathe and clear your mind of any to-do’s before starting your busy day. Close your eyes and visualize yourself sitting on a beach or in the middle of a tropical rainforest (you can even put on sounds to make these visualizations even more real). Consider this a mini-vacation for your brain. All of these things will help you start the day with calm instead of chaos resulting in less stress overall. Imagine how many other goals you could reach if you made waking up earlier a priority!
Exercise. The American Heart Association recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate activity 5 days a week for your health. So start each morning with a 30 minute jog, or pop out of bed and do a quick at home workout. If you amp up your workout intensity you can get away with 25 minutes of vigorous exercise 3 days a week. Hello HIIT workouts! If you can’t commit to the 30 minutes in the morning, you can opt for a quick 10 minute workout in the morning and then follow up with 10 minutes at lunch and another 10 minutes after dinner. The key is just to get active, if you can’t find the time for the full schedule just get moving a little bit each day. Regular exercise is shown to lower blood pressure, cholesterol and reduces stress. We like the payoff of that goal!
Eat a wholesome breakfast. What you eat plays a significant role in health and breakfast can really help set the tone for the rest of your day. Breakfast should get you from bedroom to boardroom while feeling strong and energized. A well-balanced morning consists of complex carbohydrates, nutrients and fiber from whole grains, as well as protein. Yoplait’s new Plenti™ Oatmeal Meets Greek Yogurt is a great part of a complete breakfast when paired with a serving of fruit! It takes whole grains to a whole new level by mixing oatmeal with Greek yogurt in a variety of flavors and a taste that is like overnight oats. The ready-to-eat, straight out of the fridge bowl is a nice addition to a morning routine, as it is low in saturated fat and cholesterol and contains 11 grams of protein and 16 grams* of whole grain in a single container!
Start your day with these three things and you are sure to take the right steps towards a healthy lifestyle!
