“Moments for me,” a rarity for this mom. I remember before my older son was born, I pictured my hubby taking over baby duty in the evenings while I drew a bubble bath and read a book. Then reality set in. My babies have always been Momma’s boys. No matter where I am, even if it’s behind a locked bathroom door, they will find me.
I really need a little moment for me to fix these nails, right?!
However, a girl needs a little time to herself. You know what they say, “you can’t pour from an empty cup.” In fact, it’s been proven that self care makes you more emotionally and physically capable of caring for others. So, how do I find moments for myself? The short answer, when I can! There are typically three times a day I can carve out a little moment for me: in the morning, during nap time and in the evening, after bedtime. Each me moment comes with its own to-dos, but one thing that every single one includes, is a little self care!
Early Morning
I’m lucky that both of my boys sleep until 7:30am, so I can wake up around 5:00am and give myself at least two plus hours of time to myself. During my morning moment for me, I workout, grab breakfast and a cup of coffee and do a little self pampering. I’ve always put importance on looking put together and staying healthy, because it makes me feel my personal best! It isn’t easy to sneak in the time for myself each day, so I try to make the process quick, the mom life doesn’t allow for the hour plus morning beauty routine of my pre-baby years. I save time by using safe and effective products like Aveeno® Daily Moisturizing Lotion, that care for my skin in one step. My skin always feels great afterwards and it doesn’t have a heavy scent, which I love. I even keep a bottle by my kitchen sink, so I can moisturize after washing the dishes. I keep my makeup routine simple too, with a little BB cream, brow powder, mascara and contour. My makeup takes me about five minutes to do and I try to never skip it!
Nap Time
My youngest still takes a morning and afternoon nap. During those times I try to make my older son have quiet time. Is that always successful, no! On a good day, we get an hour of quiet time in the morning and an hour of quiet time in the afternoon. During that time, I work on whatever I need to work on to clear my mind; blog work, chores, etc. No, I wouldn’t really consider those things as “moments for me,” but they are things that help me refocus mentally and that makes me feel better. I can’t tell you how much a messy house messes with my emotions.
Evening
Oh nighttime! When the kids drift off to sleep and the house is quiet, I will stay up late just to have the most quiet time possible. Of course the evening is when my husband and I spend alone time together and watch a movie or TV. I also take time in the evening to catch up on my social media. Social media is large part of blogging, but I really try hard to not let it creep into taking over my entire day. So I use my evening moment for me to catch up! On a good night, I may pick up a good book, which really relaxes me!

” I’ve always put importance on looking put together and staying healthy” – Couldnt agree more. For us to give 100% to our family, we have to be and feel 100% as well. Lovely dress by the way. 🙂

Yes!! It’s so important! Thanks Jessica! 😀
I LOVED READING THIS POST AND SEEING THE MANY WAYS YOU RELAX. I bet moms with multiple children have it harder. I try to get stuff done at home, chores and errands too, but at the same time I try to take some ‘me time’ each day. Girl, you wake up so early. I am envious. When do you go to bed?!
P.S. The photos in this post are gorgeous. Love the floral maxi.
