Years ago I made a decision to change my habits and seek a healthy lifestyle. At first I went really hardcore – workouts every day, all of my food was homemade/clean and I drank nothing but water, and a little coffee. I was committed.
Over time, like most things that are taken on hardcore, I started to let go of some of the things that didn’t serve me well, like having to make all of my food, but one thing I never let go of was drinking water!
I distinctly remember how much better I felt when I made the switch to drinking water over anything else. It makes all the difference in how you feel on the inside and how your skin looks on the outside. I also remember how hard it was to let go of my diet soda habit. I tried all the tricks; infusing my water, drinking bubbly water – none of it was quite like my bubbly diet sodas.
However, I did find what worked for me and ways to truly enjoy drinking only water, that I also passed down to my boys so they too will choose water first.
Ways To Drink More Water
Make Water The Only Option
If sodas or juice aren’t an option at home, you’re basically stuck with drinking water when you’re thirsty, so you’ll drink more! While it was still a struggle at first to avoid buying my favorite sodas, I found the more water I drank, the more I enjoyed it. For my boys, I didn’t offer things like juice at first. I will give them juice from time to time now, but since water was a big foundation for them, they tend to prefer water.
Make Water Fun
I may be simple, but I see it in my boys too. There is something about a fun water bottle that makes drinking water more enjoyable. We keep a bottom drawer stocked with water bottles so the boys can easily grab, fill and go when they need to.

Another fun thing we’ve done more recently in our home is add a Primo water dispenser. Studies show that families with a water dispenser in their home drink 25% more water, and I can see why. How To Install The Water Bottle
When we get it home, you simply pop a top onto the bottle and slide it in the dispenser. I think the whole being part of the process, and helping mom tote the giant water bottle to the car gets the boys excited to drink the final product, because they can’t wait to drink some after we put in a new bottle.
Make Water Taste Good
Sure, you can infuse water, but I think water in a purified state can taste really good. We already have well water, which I think tastes better than city water (it doesn’t have that chlorine taste) but with well water you can’t always be sure what contaminants might be present in the water.
