I once had a deep love for midi skirts. They’re modest, elegant and classic. However, the more I wore them, especially for the blog, I felt like I looked like I was drowning in the longer skirt. So I stopped buying midi length as often and opted for mini and knee length dresses and skirts.
Then LOFT brought out this leopard midi skirt, and I rekindled my love of midi skirts. It’s still a whole lot of skirt on my 4’10” frame, but I like it! Of course, for me, there are certain ways to wear this longer length that looks better than others, which is the basis for today’s post.
How to Style a Midi Skirt When You’re Petite
Keep your top simple and fitted
When I’m going to wear a midi skirt, I always keep the top fitted and simple. To me it lets the skirt do the talking, and also helps keep my shape.
Wear leg elongating heels
A leg elongating shoe can really be any high heel, but a pointed, nude heel is going to make your legs look even longer! You don’t want the skirt to make you look shorter, so add a little length to your legs.
Tuck it in
I always tuck my tops into a midi skirt (most skirts in general). The tuck brings in your waist and defines your shape so it wont get lost in the longer skirt.
