White denim, while beautiful – is incredibly unforgiving. It shows all the stains, all the underwear lines, and allll the lumps and bumps you’ve got going on underneath. Innocent little creases on your thighs turn into ravines in a pair of white jeans, or at least that’s how I feel about myself in a pair.
White Denim Pear Shape Styling Tips
But, there’s always a but – I love white jeans. So, I’ve shopped, and styled my heart out to find a way to feel good in a pair. Here’s to hoping my tips can help you too!
Take the attention away from your hips and thighs
Being pear shaped, means your hips are essentially the widest part of you. I’m not an exaggerated pear shape, but my fit issues lie in my hips and thighs. I’ve tried on countless pairs of white jeans, and have always felt they were just a little too tight in the thighs, but sizing up would mean they just become too big all over. Since white can be unforgiving, (especially where it fits close) I like to take the attention away from my thighs and hips when I wear it.
Wear an eye catching top
Remember this post? I talked about wearing an attention grabbing top. In this outfit, I kept the entire outfit white, except for the jacket, so the attention goes to the jacket.
Wear a hip skimming top
In my post about dressing a pear shape body, I mentioned wearing a top that skims the hips, which this peplum does nicely in this outfit.
Grab attention with your accessories
I also knotted the strap on my bag, so it would hit right below my hips, to take the attention to the bag instead.
Wear slimming and flattering undergarments.
What you wear under white anything is so important. It should always be nude, and should always be low profile. What do I mean by that? No panty lines! That doesn’t necessarily mean barely there underwear either, there are a lot of great seamless styles out there that are full coverage without the lines.
Wear cropped or flare styles.
What I love the most about this particular pair of white jeans, is the slightly flared crop at the bottom. If they were tight to my ankles, they would amplify my hips. However, the subtle little flare, helps balance my hips.
