We all come in different shapes and sizes, and sometimes that size doesn’t always fit the trends. Short curvy legs may not look the best in a pair of booties, or over the knee boots, that are actually more like entire leg boots. However, shorter legs look great in a pair of heels (I mean any height does) and you can’t discount the power of a nude shoe. It’s all in accepting your body, loving it, and learning how to flaunt what you got. So today, I’m talking all about those legs, and how to make them look a little longer and leaner, simply by how you choose your shoes and your pants.
Tuck It In
Whether you like a full tuck, half tuck, or a tie-up, bringing your top above your waistband will instantly make your legs look longer. The higher the rise, the longer your legs will look. Which takes me to my next point.
High Rise Pants
My husband doesn’t love a high rise pant, but I love how long they make my legs look. A higher rise, also makes your hips look smaller. I personally don’t love the way high rise pants look in the back, they’re a little too long for my tastes. So, when I wear them I typically wear a jacket or sweater on top.
A Lighter Shoe
Now let’s talk shoes. They hold a lot of power in how tall, or not so tall you look in your clothes. The lighter and more neutral the shoe, the longer your legs will look. Also, the clunkier and heavier the shoe, the shorter your legs will look. Although I don’t have an example here, when it comes to boots I truly struggle. I don’t look good in many of the styles that are popular right now. Booties are a no go for me and tall boots are either too loose and slouchy, or the rise isn’t appropriate for my height. So, I stick to a classic riding boot on those days I want to stay warm. My favorite is this pair.
Wear Heels
This is a classic tip that any girl knows, a pair of heels makes your legs look longer – especially a light and neutral pair. My mom life doesn’t make heels all that practical for me, but I love wearing them to work, church and date nights!
Style Tip: How to Make Short Legs Look Longer
In a nutshell, if you want your legs to look longer, it’s all in how your rock your clothes. Sometimes all you need is a little tuck, a neutral shoe and pants with a higher rise.
