I’m not quite into bermuda shorts, but I think my days of short shorts may be behind me (of course, that’s a maybe). These days I find my sweet spot length with shorts is 4″, not too long, not too short – just right. When it comes to denim shorts I also prefer a pair that has some stretch, some room – and doesn’t ride up. Today I’m sharing four of my favorite picks for mid-length denim shorts.

Mid-Length Denim Shorts
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My typical inseam is 24-25″. The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.
Abercrombie Mom Shorts
Abercrombie Mom Shorts have a 4″ inseam, a high-rise, and small slits on the side so the shorts don’t cling to your thighs. I personally sized up in these shorts to a size 25 for more room and comfort, but they run true to size. To note, the slits seem to only be on the darker wash that I’m wearing in this post.

J.Crew High Rise Denim Shorts
Every post that has had shorts in it lately, has had this pair from J.Crew in it. I just love these shorts and hope J.Crew keeps them stocked all season. They’re comfortable with a 4″ inseam and are true to size. They are the pair I reached for the most last summer. The white pair below is the same fit, just in white.

Old Navy OG Shorts
Ok, these shorts have a 3″ inseam, so they’re a tiny bit shorter than the 4″ options I love. However, they are a great budget option and another top pick for me from previous summers. This dark wash pair is new to me, so the hem hasn’t started to fray, but after a few washes they will look similar to the shorts I’m wearing above. They are true to size and I’m wearing them in a size 0.

I’ve had lots of requests for dressed-up and pull-on style shorts as well. So stay tuned for those posts this month.
