I love showing multiple ways to wear something. Especially when that something is controversial for petites – like a midi skirt. Nearly every time I post an outfit with a midi skirt, someone has to ask, can petites wear midi skirts? I think you can wear whatever you want! I also think midi skirts can look good on petites, with heels, flats and even sneakers – but of course, we’re all entitled to our own opinions. Today, I’m showing one petite-friendly midi skirt, and four different ways to wear it!

Sizing reference: I’m 4’10” and typically wear a size Petite XXS/24/00.
Petite-Friendly Midi Skirt
First, the skirt runs true to size, for me that’s Petite XXS. It’s well made, not see-through, and has a comfortable elastic waist.
With Heels
Starting with the most obvious way to wear a midi skirt – with a pair of heels. I love shoes that are neutral, with thin straps in general but they look especially good with a midi skirt. I chose a top that was close in color to the skirt which adds a little more length as well.

Casual
You can absolutely wear flats shoes with a midi skirt when you’re petite. I think the key is wearing a pair of sandals or flats that are light and neutral in color with thin straps (if it’s a sandal). I love the trendy braided sandals, but I’ve yet to try on a pair that I want to wear all the time, the chunky straps just look too heavy to me and give the look of shorter legs. I also opted for a slim fitting t-shirt over a loose fit to balance the two.

With Sneakers
I know some of you will disagree with me on this, but I think petites can wear sneakers with midi skirts and dresses too. It helps if the sneakers have a slim profile (not big chunky sneakers). It’s one of those outfit combinations I’ve seen enough now to like the way it looks and say wear it if you love it.

To The Beach
Midi skirts are breezy and light, perfect for wearing to the beach. Add a gauzy white top, tied up to make it more casual and a straw hat.
