My Everyday Makeup Routine

This post is sponsored by Skin Resource.MD, all opinions are my own.

In a college statistics class I was once given the task of tracking a process for a month; I chose to track my daily makeup routine. Every day for a month I tracked the amount of products used, the time it took, (a few other things I can’t remember), and then analyzed the data. Want to know what conclusion I came to? I wore a whole lot of makeup.

Fast forward to the present and my makeup routine has become much less involved. Unless you count the skincare aspect. I used to be all makeup and no skincare. Blame it on age, blame it on kids, whatever you want to blame it on; I’m a lot simpler than I used to be. I still wear makeup daily, I think I’ll always be a makeup girl at heart, but I’ve learned what products make the most impact and what holds up the best through a day full of the mom life.

My Everyday Makeup Routine

I start my routine by prepping my skin. I find that if your skin is well prepped, the makeup stays longer and looks better. After cleansing my skin I spritz on Skin Resource.MD Visibly Moist Toner. This product is new to me, I’ve been using it for about a month, and I LOVE it! One spritz and my face feels fresh, moisturized and looks brighter. Then I apply Skin Resource.MD Total Antioxidant Facial Serum, which is smooth and to me is a great primer for makeup. I talked about it in this post.

Finally, I apply Skin Resource.MD Hyaluronic Facial Solar Protector – Tinted Moisturizing Sunscreen. One, y’all know I’m all about my sunscreen, but this new product from Skin Resource.MD is great! I mentioned before that I use their sunscreen daily, but this facial sunscreen they released last month is tinted, so it looks great under makeup, and it has hyaluronic acid included, so I can lose the step of adding the hyaluronic serum like I normally do. The color blends and is pretty universal, if you’re rushing one day I could see even wearing it on its own as a little sheer coverage. Now the details in case you’re wondering, it’s chemical free, mineral based and reef safe. Meaning, it doesn’t include any chemicals that would be harmful to marine life, should it come off your skin when you’re in the water.

Skincare that makes putting makeup on easier.

Ok, on to the makeup, I apply my foundation with a beauty blender. I tend to have dry skin, so moisturizing products are my favorite. I currently use MAC Face and Body and love it! After my foundation I apply concealer, MAC Pro Longwear is my current favorite, in an ice cream cone shape around my eyes and on my eyelids.

Then I finish it off with MAC Mineralize Powder. I basically went to the MAC counter a few months ago and was like, please help me, I feel like I look old, and a sweet lady picked out this routine for me. She knew what she was doing.

Next, I apply a little blush and bronzer. I put the blush on the apples of my cheeks, and the bronzer in the hollows of my cheeks, sides of my nose and sides of my forehead. I use a NARS duo that has Laguna Bronzer and Orgasm Blush. Then I fill in my brows with a cheapie brow pen by NYX. It’s affordable and it works!

Then I spritz my face with MAC Fix+ Finishing Spray to hold it all on, before I put my mascara on. The final step is mascara and gloss! I love Loreal Voluminous mascara, especially when its used with the primer first, I coat both the top and bottom, of my top lashes, which I think helps them curl up, instead of just out.

Then I use a little NYX Butter gloss in Creme Brulee and call it a day!

Of course I have days where I do a little more and get out the shadows, and eyeliners, but this is just my daily go-to. I used to wear eyeliner daily, but felt that by the end of the day I looked tired and haggard, so I’ve started to skip it. Plus, this is fast, and I feel put together with not a lot of effort. If you’re interested in trying the sunscreen I mentioned above, Skin Resource.MD has a special through the month of August (ends August 31st) where you can get both the facial sunscreen that I mentioned and the full body sunscreen for $48, they are normally $28 a piece, so this is a great deal!
