My Pain Free Fitness Routine

This post is sponsored by CBDMEDIC but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

It’s been a while since I’ve written anything fitness related on the blog, but that’s not because it hasn’t remained a big part of my life. I’m still rocking a near daily workout, at home, with fitness apps, and I’m still loving it. You would think it’s the kids that sometimes interrupt those workouts, but no – it’s this guy.

While Bo may try to get in the way of my workout routine regularly, one thing that I don’t let get in my way is my chronic neck and upper back pain. I’ve had intermittent pain since I was a teenager. I can’t tell you where it came from, but my muscles just love to knot up in the very same spot time and time again, and cause me all sorts of discomfort. Over the years, I’ve found that my workout routine, when done correctly and diligently is a source of relief for me. However, the key here is, when done correctly.

Stay Consistent

You would think that working out would worsen my pain, but it actually is the opposite for me. When I take rest days, my back will tense up like no other. So, if I want to stay loose and limber, I try to stick to some sort of activity daily. It’s not always an intense workout, some days it’s just yoga, stretching, or foam rolling.

Stay Safe

Another thing that is key for me, is sticking to safe level of weight. I’m all for challenging myself and growing, but I’ve also come to realize that injuring yourself with heavy weights is a good way to just back track and lose progress. I’ve been there. If you don’t have the form with the weight you’re trying to use, just don’t go there.

Stay Limber

Tight muscles hurt, and they also injure easily – so I never skip an after workout stretch. Like I mentioned before, I’m also big on using my foam roller and stretching alone on some days.

I also see a chiropractor from time to time. He helps loosen up any spots that have kinked up or misaligned and I really think it makes a difference. Plus, he has a roller table which is basically a foam roller that does all the work for you and it’s an amazing ten minute break for this momma.

The chiropractor I’ve been seeing recently is an advocate for CBD pain cream. He uses it on my back while he does my adjustments, and it really makes a difference. He also jokes about his wife having a nightstand full of this stuff because she loves it so much for headache relief.

He uses a different brand in his office, but this CBDMEDIC Active Sport™ Pain Relief is available CVS. So, I don’t have to buy it through his office, which is convenient (and a little cheaper too). I’ve started using it on my sore muscles after I stretch and foam roll, and I think it’s making a difference in my pain level. I’ve been able to avoid taking ibuprofen in cases where I would before, so for me, that’s a win!

When Do I Use CBDMEDIC?

This CBDMEDIC Active Sport™ Pain Relief blend that I’ve tried is made with menthol, so it does have a menthol smell. So, I prefer to use it in the evening, after I stretch and foam roll. It helps my muscles feel relaxed before bedtime and I wake up loose and limber!

What about you – have you tried a CBD pain cream? What’s your fitness routine like?
