Tips for curing a sweet tooth

CRAVINGS! we all have them, especially when just starting out with a change in your diet. I am a firm believer in finding ways to ‘feed’ your cravings to avoid full on binge and failer later down the road. Also, it is important to learn how to adjust your daily living, not to deprive youself to reach a goal. Rember, you’re in this for the long haul, so learn to live it! Today I am going to talk in particular about your inner cookie monster!

I have a sweet tooth for sure, I crave something sweet on the daily. If it wasn’t for these tips and tricks I’ve learned from others and conconcted on my own over the years, I probably would have failed a long time ago.

1.) Chocolate Milk: This is typically my go to, or this in combination with one of my other sweet tooth fixes. I take about a tablespoon of warm water in the bottom of a cup, 1.5 tsp of unsweetened cocoa and mix it up! Without the warm water, the powder would not dissolve. I then add about a tablespoon of stevia (I use stevia in the raw) and ice and unsweeteend almond milk. Perfection! This is always filling, sweet and normally just want I need to quiet that craving.

2.)Microwave Cookie: I am all for healthy cookies as a substitute for the waistline killer cookies. There are so many talented bloggers out there with tons of healthy dessert recipes. My favorites are chocolate covered katie and stuft mamma. I like to make this quick microwave cookie, which is a combination of ideas I gained from these two lovely ladies. I take about 1/4 cup of rolled oats in a small ramekin dish. I then add a pinch of baking soda, splash of vanilla extract, tablespoon of stevia and about 1-2 tablespoons of unsweetened almond milk. I pop it in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes. Then I top it with 1.5 tsp of peanut butter and just a few dark chocolate chips, about a tablespoon 🙂 This tastes guilty, but it’s not! Cookie monsters rejoice!

3.) Peanut butter spoon: This is a classic. If it wasn’t for peanut butter I would be lost. In particular if it wasn’t for Peanut Butter and Co. I would be lost! (My favorite is white chocolate wonderful). Of course, peanut butter is one to watch the portions. So if I am in a night time craving and need something quick and sweet, I measure out one tablespoon of white chocolate wonderful and put maybe 4 dark chocolate chips in the spoon. Think, Reese’s cups, mmmm. If you’re really feeling calorie cutting go with PB2!

4.) Frozen Banana Ice Cream: A frozen banana, when blended well, is the consistency of real ice cream, yipee!! This is not a secret, it has been done by many, but is my ice cream craving fix! There are many recipes out there too, some add frozen strawberries, chocolate and so on to create the ‘ice cream’ they are going for. I keep it simple mostly, I blend up 1/2 frozen banan and top with about a tsp of melted peanut butter (PB addict apparently).
