Petite-Friendly Blazers

My love of blazers continues. They’re my favorite layering option for adding polish to an outfit. A blazer can add professionalism or it can dress up a pair of jeans. They’re even great for wearing with sneakers. Today I’m sharing a few petite-friendly options in different colors and fits as well as resources for finding a great petite-friendly fit in general

Petite-Friendly Blazers

Sizing Reference: I’m 4’10” and around 105lbs. I share my sizing to help you compare when shopping online.

Often when I post about blazers, I’m asked for budget-friendly options as well. While I always try to mix in different price ranges, I focus the most on fit and quality. So, while I can find less expensive options all day long, I won’t share them unless they both fit and are worth your purchase. Blazers are definitely investment pieces for your wardrobe that will last for years and if your style calls for it, you really only need one (maybe two, I would go for black and tan/camel). I would also recommend searching for some of the classic styles (like J.Crew Blazers on second-hand sites like Poshmark for a less expensive option. I hope today’s post will help you find the one that will work best for your wardrobe! Keep an eye on my IG story, I’m always watching for the things that I have shared on my blog to go on sale and will post when I find that, so you may be able to snag some discounts on these recommendations.

Places to Shop for Petite Blazers

Before I go into my direct recommendations, I wanted to pass along places to check if you’re looking for a great petite fit.

High Quality Blazers

J.Crew – J.Crew blazers are amazing, just like the coats. I can’t recommend them enough. Their blazers are true to size for me. I tend to go for Petite 00.

Ann Taylor – Ann Taylor also makes beautiful blazers that you can often get during one of their sales for a moderate price. Their sizing is also pretty true to size and I tend to go for Petite 00.

Boden – Boden’s clothes in general are so well made. The sizing is not always perfect, some of their items tend to run a bit large. I go for Petite 2 which is their smallest option and for the most part, I find a great fit.

Less Expensive Options

J.Crew Factory – J.Crew Factory has the fit of J.Crew, but not necessarily the full quality. I think they’re great for a budget-friendly option and for grabbing things like seasonal blazers (linen, velvet, etc.). The blazers at J.Crew Factory tend to be true to size, I wear Petite 00 typically.

LOFT – LOFT blazers often go on sale and tend to fit well. I wear Petite 00 at LOFT as well.

Banana Republic Factory – Ever since I realized you could shop at BR Factory online I haven’t shopped at Banana Republic since. The prices are often discounted with sales on top that make for a great price point and most of the things I’ve bought there are still excellent quality. I’m a Petite 00/XXS at BR Factory.

Abercrombie – Abercrombie does a good job with their Petites overall, but sometimes the sizing and quality can be all over the place. Their blazers tend to be a little more casual and the sizing can vary depending on the fit.

What to Wear Under a Blazer

I’ve also been asked to share ideas for what to wear under a blazer. There’s really a ton of options when it comes to layering under a blazer. You don’t have to stick to a basic button down or camisole. If it fits under the sleeves, it’s fair game in my opinion. I will layer, t-shirts, button downs, vests, sweaters, chunky knits and more under a blazer.

Chocolate Blazer

I have been loving the chocolate trend for fall. It’s rich and beautiful and a nice change from camel everything. This blazer is from Banana Republic Factory and I love the quality and fit. The sleeves are a great length and the blazer has a trendy long fit, without being too big and boxy. I’m wearing it in Petite 00 and consider it to be true to size.

Gray Blazer

This J.Crew blazer is very similar to the chocolate blazer above. The fit is a little bit wider and boxier. From a quality standpoint, this blazer is slightly nicer. It’s warm and will make a great winter blazer for layering. It also comes in other colors as well. I paired it with a black wool skirt, tights, and booties.

Tan Blazer

J.Crew has started to phase out the Parke blazer, which is my favorite fit. I would have included it as my tan/camel option but it’s mostly sold out, unfortunately. So, to find an option I could recommend I tried one of the newer styles, the Willa. I love the fit of this blazer, but it’s a little lightweight if you compare it to the Parke blazer and the fit is not as spot on. I’m wearing it in Petite 00 and it fits true to size. The sleeves are slightly long on me, you can see in the picture I’m wearing them pushed up.

Black Blazer

This black blazer from Boden is a comfortable jersey knit. It’s polished enough to dress up and casual enough to easily dress down with jeans. The sleeves stay pushed up which I love and it’s just overall comfortable to wear. I’m wearing it in Petite 2.

Plaid Blazer

A plaid blazer is definitely one that’s more of a trend, so I would wait for a sale to add this to your wardrobe. This one from Ann Taylor has been one of my favorites this season. The plaid is made up of neutrals, so it goes with many different color combinations. It fits true to size and has stretch to it like the Boden blazer, so it’s comfortable to wear and doesn’t wrinkle easily.

Blazer Coat

The last option is a blazer coat from Abercrombie. I’m wearing it in Petite XXS and it has an oversized fit and sleeves that are a tiny bit too long. I like to dress this one up and down. It’s warm and comfortable. I styled it multiple ways in a 10 items, 20 outfits past last winter.
