I was watching Reels the other day and came across a video of someone putting together a great outfit with a pair of leggings. I loved it – but there was a major debate in the comments for and against leggings. One person commented, “once you start wearing an elastic waistband, there’s no going back.” I 100% agree with that person. I started wearing leggings years ago and they remain one of my favorite things to wear for casual days. Especially with all of the jeans being high-rise (I know we’re starting to move away from that) some days I just don’t want my gut squeezed to death by a pair of jeans. If you’re team leggings like me, I have a few petite-friendly options today that I think you’ll love.

Petite-Friendly Leggings
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My typical inseam is 24-25″. The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.
Aerie Real Me Leggings – The Most Comfortable Option
Aerie’s Real Me Leggings have been highly popular for years now, not just for petites, but for all shapes and sizes. There are a few different styles in the Real Me fit including flare and crossover, I prefer the 7/8 option. I wear these leggings in short and they have a perfect petite length. What makes them my favorite all around is the lightweight material that doesn’t squeeze you, but still holds you in. They’re not see-through and they only have one seam that runs down the inside leg. I realized after I created this post I didn’t take any pictures of the leggings without my shoes on to show you the length! If you want to see the length on me, check out my Reel that goes with this post.

Aerie Real Luxe Street Leggings – The Lint Free Pair
This year Aerie came out with the Real Luxe Street leggings and they also have a great fit, in short, for petites. This pair is thick and has more compression than the Real Me pair. They also have minimal seams so you can dress this pair up if you’d like. They have a silky feel and won’t attract hair and lint, but I can agree with some of the reviews that they pill some in the wash. Mine have only pilled a little bit after a few washes, but I think they’re a best buy if they’re on sale rather than their full price.

Aerie Warm Up Leggings – The Warmest Option
The Warm Up leggings from Aerie are fleece-lined so they’ll keep you warm. This pair is definitely casual, has multiple seams, and is a jogger style. They have a tie at the waist and zipper pockets as well. Just like the other two Aerie leggings, the short is a great petite fit on me. You can pair these with warm winter boots or go with sneakers and warm socks like I did here.

Aerie has a great-fitting pair of leather leggings (go for short length). The fabric is shiny compared with Spanx leather leggings and although they stretch they’re a little more constricting than the Spanx leggings, but at a better price point and better length.
LOFT Ponte Leggings – The Polished Pair
Aerie leggings are clearly a top pick for me, but LOFT holds a spot on the list with their Ponte Leggings. What I love about these leggings is the matte cotton feel, minimal seams, and thick warm fabric. They don’t look like athletic leggings at all so they’re great for dressing up. I think they’re a great fit in my true size in Petite, but I do find I have to pull these leggings up often throughout the day, they wiggle down a little with wear. If you want more ideas for how I dress these leggings up, check out this post.
